When using the phrase "humble beginnings", people were obviously not referring to W.A.S.P., as this album is often referred to as the band at their best.

The term 'Glam Metal' is most suited towards a band like W.A.S.P. Unlike many of the so called 'Glam Metal' bands of the 80's, W.A.S.P. were actually Glam but still kept a Heavy Metal sound. Most people own the newest version of the album, including the previously banned track 'Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)', an obviously raunchy track that is said to be the cause of Tipper Gores starting up the PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center). The original version of the album on the other hand kicks off with the track 'I Wanna Be Somebody', with a quick snare roll the song breaks in with barely the presence of an intro, immediately pulling you into one hell of an energetic metal anthem. Not a bad way to kick off a career. With little chance to catch your breath thundering drums kick in for a slightly darker, more sinister sounding song entitled 'L.O.V.E. Machine' (watch the music video to fully get the dark sinister feeling behind this song). The energy only slows down once, with a very emotionally intense ballad: 'Sleeping In The Fire'. Normally I'm not a fan of ballads, but Blackie has got such a great range the feeling of this song comes through with incredible power.

Classic 80's rawk & roll. Trashy, sleazy, lots of loud geetarz, and a belting vocal performance from Blackie.

They don't make em like this anymore.

Animal

Animal was never on the OG release. Personally, I think Metal Storm should only include the original track listings. It's really annoying to me that the re-releases have it at the start. Just put all the bonuses at the end, and keep the OG order intact.

I'll have this over Crimson Idol any day.
Rivals Headless Children for best WASP album.

There are too many great WASP LPs. My 9/10s here:
W.A.S.P. - Dominator (2007)
W.A.S.P. - Helldorado (1999) --> yes, not joking..
W.A.S.P. - The Crimson Idol (1992)
W.A.S.P. - The Headless Children (1989)
W.A.S.P. - The Last Command (1985)
W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P. (1984)

I would put it so:
1. W.A.S.P. - The Headless Children 9.2
2. W.A.S.P. - The Last Command 9.1
3. W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P. 9.0
4. W.A.S.P. - The Crimson Idol 8.9
5. W.A.S.P. - Dominator 8.8
6. W.A.S.P. - Helldorado 8.5

The debut is great with no fillers and some of the best HM songs ever written. SITF is a masterpiece ballad!

For me WASP never was a Glam band, because I don´t like most of those labeled as Glam (MC, Poison, etc.). Totally different sound.
