Not one of Amon Amarth's best efforts... it sure has their most famous songs, but in front of all their other albuns, this one seems a little shallow in comparison.

Epic and awesome as fuck, just as pretty much every other AA album. by far the best track imo is the first one. i sometimes listen to AA and think how can this possibly be made to sound any more epic and heavy.

I like the songs on this one that are just real crushers. "The Pursuit of Vikings" just makes me feel like smashing something with a giant hammer.

Barring "The Fate Of Norns" and "The Pursuit Of Vikings" this is an incredibly boring album. They even managed to screw up their ballad track, "Arson".

This is their first step towards their trademark sound, which they have now stuck to since. This album is indeed very good, it's different to their previous release in the sense that the riffs aren't as long and repetitive, it also sounds a little less brutal, and they had obviously gone for a much more melodic approach. Overall this album is a good effort, but they had certainly improved on this with their next release. The stand out track for me is "The Fate Of The Norns", which is one of my favourite all time AA songs, the rest range from decent to average for me.

I don't understand why this album is rated better than their 2nd and 3rd albums, which I think are one of their most boring albums before 2010.
