it's ok. i preferred them before Ian got all serious. STD (amusing that the album abbreviates to that. fitting, too) and ATL were their high points. they were a "fun" band, which was a nice counterpoint to a lot of the other thrash bands.

the joe jackson cover is awesome, though. "CHICKEN ON MY HEAD! CHICKEN ON MY HEAD!"

This is also my fave Anthrax album. xD Although ATL, and STD both run it very close!

This album proves that Anthrax weren't always a fun-and-games band (I'm not saying they were immature, just less serious than the other 'Big 4' bands). The album's first half fares slightly better than the second half, making one hell of a good impression with the ticking tension of 'Time', the unapologetic heaviness of 'Blood' and the slight nod to the burdgeoning Rap scene of the late 80's in 'Keep it in the family'. This stunning momentum isn't always kept to the same quality, as on 'H8 Red' and 'Intro to reality', but the frantic guitar work and talented yet tantalizing vocals of Belladonna makes this album the absolute beast it is.

I'm no fan of Belladonnas vocals at all, much prefer Bush, love "Got The Time" tho.

Extremely average affair. But then again all of Anthrax stuff with belladonna on it after Among The Living are average at best.
Their first three and The Sound Of White Noise are vastly supoerior to this uninspired affair, it is telling that a cover song is the best song on the album.

A good album overall but the fillers keep it in distance from the excellence. Blood still remains as one of the best anthrax songs.

Some things are better left unrevised. The last time I listened this album was back in 1995 when I was 17 and I praised this album. Now, in my mid 30s, it seems so monochromatic, so predictable; seems it was recorded live. On the other hand, I found Spreading the Disease and Fistful of Metal much better than I remembered.

I wouldn't say controversial. I'd say it shows bad taste but I wouldn't say controversial.
