Like my other genre-based lists, this exists purely for my own organizational purposes and not to provide a definitive statement about or guidebook to the thrash genre. I've folded some speed metal and other occasional outliers into this list, maybe a few not-so-thrash albums by otherwise-thrash bands, since they're close enough and I wasn't going to make a separate list.

The first handful are my all-time favorite thrash albums, though the order within that section is quite flexible. The rest is self-explanatory.

I leave these lists to rot for long periods of time, so rather than updating them after every few albums I make sweeping changes every couple of years. This list was last updated December 9, 2025.

Every one of my lists has one such album. You'll also notice Pantera in my folk list, Manowar in my black list, and DragonForce in my doom list.

Came across this by accident, but I'll definitely bookmark it or something in case I run out of inspiration when looking for some thrash check out. It's been my favourite metal genre for the best part of 20 years, but I can't claim to have listened to it all. Plus I have been on a thrash binge lately, so...
