The 'other' Swiss power trio have matured from their sophomore effort with leaps and bounds. Just to name a few; the production gives Tommy Barons' swirling guitar playing a true spotlight that he lacked in their previous, thinly produced albums. Markys' lyrics are much more deep and lacking in juvenile ranting, and while Rons' vocals are still the groups' sore thumb, his vocals are buried a tad under the mix. That small short coming is easily ignored though.

I prefer the production of 'Mental vortex' and 'grin', but in terms of songwriting i would say this album iis definitely the best from coroner. Each and every song is so tight, and the last song is one epic way to end an album.

My least favorite from Coroner. Lacks the edge of Punishment For Decadence and the sophistication of Mental Vortex. Too generic for me.
Die By My Hand and Last Entertainment are standouts, though.

Too generic for me.

Lols, if there is one thrash band with non generic albums (except their debut), it is Coroner. Oh well... Opinions I guess. I just think the term is wrong comparing the band with the rest of the thrash scene at that time and now.

Their best album for me.

And for me (even if Grin is very close)

Yeah, maybe "generic" was a bad choice of words, but it still seemed like just another Thrash album to me. Doesn't have that spark that makes me say "Another fantastic album by Coroner." Maybe I oughta relisten to it.

I daresay that DOA and Read My Scars are the two best songs Coroner ever wrote. Oh well, two of the very best anyway

I haven't heard Grin or Mental Vortex yet, but this one I really dig. Some really catchy tech thrash, 'Last Entertainment' is probably my favourite.

Their best for me. Not by far (PFD following closely), but by more than a margin.
From all their albums this has the most interesting ideas in songwriting for me.
Highlights: Mistress of deception and Tunnel of pain.

Not only Coroner's best album, but also the single greatest, most badass technical thrash record ever made. It seriously doesn't get any better than this. Remastered version could have fixed the muddy production a little - but then again who cares. It's Coroner, so you can be sure that the music itself is top friggin' notch, as usual.

generic? Seriously? No wonder your account was deleted.

As for the best of their albums:
1. No More Punishment for Mental Colors
4. R.I.P.
5. Grin

Opinion still stands; this is the weakest of their big three albums behind Punishment and Mental Vortex.

I was being sarcastic, dipstick.
"Generic" is one thing I'd never think someone would ever use to describe Coroner. Nothing wrong with thinking it's the least of their 'big 3'.
But "generic"? C'mon, that's not the word you really meant to use, is it?

That said, credit for use of the term 'dipstick'
I had visions of Roscoe P. Coltrane there, and I giggled.
So thanks for that.

I wasn't a fan of Coroner when I first listened to them a few years ago. I've given them another try recently and I now understand why people rate them so highly!

I've listened to all of their albums today and would rate them:
1. Punishment For Decadence - 9.1/10
2. No More Color - 9.0/10
3. Mental Vortex - 8.8/10
4. Grin - 8.3/10
5. R.I.P. - 8.2/10
