I was expecting this to be a bit more thrashy. Interesting sound nevertheless, but weird too. Needs some time.

An ok album. I too was expecting it to be more thrashy, but its ok I guess. I hope no one takes this as a bad thing, but it reminds me of John Bush era Anthrax a litte. It also reminds me a bit of Stone Sour.

Wow... pretty underrated (by the usual MS standards). It's among my top three thrash albums this year and I found it a lot more consistent than, say, My God

I agree with most of you. It's kind of weird and not as trashy as I expected. It's a good album, but not outstanding

I really want to here some intelligent melodic technical brutal shredding relieved by some serene atmospheric unsettling moments

This is a great CD, the production is awesome. Flotsam are not afraid to push the envelope and take chances, but always stay true to their roots! THIS IS A MUST HAVE CD. this band deserves so much more. This cd is in my top 2 of the year

Great production, above average guitarmanship, and powerful vocals that are paired with some of the least inspired lyrics I've ever heard (even freak Kitchen can be a little fun at times). It's really what hurts this album, otherwise everything else is great 7.4/10

When I first listened to this album... I thought it was rather mediocre and I think I actually rated it 7/10. But there was one song that kept me listening... "Blackened Eyes Staring". The vocals in that song were so captivating.

Thing is, I never really gave the album a chance at first, and as I kept listening to that one song , the sound it had that was shared amongst the others allowed me to appreciate the others more and they just grew on me.. and now I f*cking love the entire album!

Afterwards, when I actually took the time to truly appreciate the other songs, I realized that they had some amazing guitar solos, outstanding vocals, memorable lyrics, and heavy riffs that, although were unique on their own, still had that thrash element present.

Favourites ATM: "Blackened Eyes Staring", "Hypocrite", "K.Y.A.", "Black Cloud", "The Cold" (It's hard to choose favourites because I liked almost every song in this album equally)
9/10... excellent

The song "Better Off Dead" gives me chills every time.
Oh, and the rest of the album is pretty damn good too.

The best of modern era Flotsam & Jetsam. They finally got rid of the mediocre groove metal sound they played with in the 90's for Queensryche inspired thrash-prog. Think Nevermore or Communic.

Extremely underrated and overlooked album. I remember listening to this thing all the time when it was new. I love how they're not even trying to just copy their older material but rather try something new and modernize their sound, and it worked out perfectly for them. I wouldn't label this pure thrash, though, it's very different from their more thrash-oriented albums. "Blackened Eyes Staring" is my go-to track on this album.

Sounds a bit different than the few previous albums, different musical styles, kind of a breath of fresh air and maybe some extra inspiration in the songwriting as well. Somewhat a comeback album to better quality releases and better songs than on previous ones. Well, I am kind of a boomer when it comes to these things -- and when I also know the future albums now -- Flots should play pure speed and thrash and they would score almost like in the beginning. Good a listen, and again, on the right path like Dreams of Death was.
