After two thrash / death albums ("Endless Pain" and "Pleasure To Kill"), that would later inspire many death metal bands, Kreator changed their style and created "Terrible Certainty", an exclusively thrash metal album.

"Terrible Certainty" is a great step for Kreator, as it's an album where the band changes many elements in their sound and their general style. Ventor's "growling" vocals now belong in the past (he sings only in "As The World Burns" - but his vocals are not as extreme as in the previous albums), the guitar work is now much more complex: technique is the new word added in the band's dictionary; variety in the songwriting is also something new. It is the first time that Kreator use melody in their music (listen to a perfect melody in the middle of "Storming With Menace"). The drumming is once more really fast but also more varied with breaks and some mid-tempo parts. The acoustic intro in "Behind The Mirror" is the best proof for the big changes the band made in it's sound. Lyrically, the band diverts a bit from the carnage centered themes of the first two albums, including some songs with anti-religious subject and some about humanity in general.

I´ve changed my mind. Yes this is Kreators best album! Every single track on this album is a thrash metal masterpiece. Its often overlooked by both, Kreator fans and critics but for me its pure madness.

Chaotic, but in a different and equally satisfying fashion, to Pleasure To Kill.

Not quite my fave Kreator album, but it's still an amazing thrashfest from start to finish, and is a genre classic.

Average album from an above average thrash band. This is easily a couple steps down after "Pleasure to Kill", the vocals are beyond grating. An awkward and mysterious misstep for them.

This is incredibly good, possibly Kreator at its best in its initial years. The last two albums were solid no doubt but I found the urgency and madness in this unrelenting. Outstanding thrash record.

Bad English

Best song: Behind the mirror, intro, mournful calmness into chaotic aggression, such an anger from those young Germans, somehow I am happy I like genres and many of them, because all time such thrash, somehow I am not 20 anymore where I can party 24/7

They took away what made the previous two albums being so fun to listen. Technically the band has advanced, the musicianship is tighter and they make less mistakes, but it doesn't have the same energy and immersiveness, a sense of realism, all the imperfections, and most importantly fun.

Kreator's best album IMO, certainly their most consistent.

8.9/10 for me - 'Terrible Certainty' is the standout track.

Good album. Still stands to lowest in terms of top 3 Kreator albums - Pleasure To Kill, Extreme Aggression and Coma Of Souls.

Yes, Terrible Certainty is one of my top 5 Kreator songs.
