This is pretty awesome. Definitely gonna go up to a 9 in the near future.

Nothing new, but doesn't really need to be. Pretty great effort, one of the few "older bands" you can still get reasonably excited about new releases from.

This album is fucking incredible.

What urks me is there are users actually giving this 5 and 6 ratings. I know music is extremely personal, and with that being said I usually just take note of other's opinions I don't agree with and move on, but this time I am just...dumbfounded...that anyone who even remotely likes Voivod could give this a 5. Is it simply people who go around hating on things? I wouldn't even leave ratings for bands I don't like. Is it because they went on without Piggy? Who are you people?

I guess it's just one more symptom of a world where Justin Bieber has a higher net worth than every member of Iron Maiden put together.

I need a few more listens to rate, but my initial impression of this dense offering is hell yes. I like how there are some elements classic to Voivod (dissonant guitars, Snake's unique voice, sci-if theme, Away being Away), and yet there is definitely some uniqueness here, particularly in the songwriting. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Chewie was an absolutely outstanding addition. He's continuing to do what I would never have believed possible in a post Piggy world.

Also gotta say I love the top notch production. Probably the best I've heard on any Voivod record.

Oh, and the lyrical call back to Jack Luminous in the song Sonic Mycelium is the stuff! Longtime fan bait for sure.

Deviant, I share your feelings on the reviews, and yet I'm not totally surprised. Even in their hay day I knew a number of hardcore metal fans that just couldn't get onboard. Too "weird". Not thrash enough. Blah blah blah. Their loss.

Voivod rule a difficult record !

Great stuff. A nice continuation to their sound as of late. Has a nice concept to it as well, from the lyrics to the song structures it's very well executed.

Man, the riffage on The End Of Dormancy is just the best

Now, this is not an instant pop metal pleasure as we have nowadays across the metal globe because everything is profit-driven, It takes time & experience to enjoy this music, great guitar work, vocals too, production is awesome, as well. So far, the best 2018 album.

...why? You do realize that's what ratings are for, right? To rate every album despite whether you liked it or not?
If people wanted to hate on it, they'd have rated it even lower. 6/10 isn't a bad score. I personally rated it 7/10, which in my scale (which I actually downgraded last year, cause there were too less divisive ratings, this time it's much better adjusted, even if the site disagrees with me) means I really enjoyed the album and could recommend it to the fans of the genre. But that it's not great, more like good/very good.
Although I may yet bump the rating.

To be honest this is surprisingly good an album. While I have nothing against the longer songs I seem to prefer the shorter, thrashier ones (Obsolete Beings and Always Moving) to the rest.

This is the best Voivod album I have heard. Almost all the songs of the album has entered my playlist. Can imagine only a very few bands be this creative in their old age.
