By Inheritance - the album that shook the Metal Storm world when it penetrated the top of the best albums list. Luckily, the Rust In Peace fanboi battalion was there to protect their prized jewel from the... well, pardon the pun, the heavy Artillery. With that scare in the past, this album has taken a stable place in the top 200 albums of all time (#154 at the time of this review).

It may just be because the hype gave me some unreasonably high expectations, but I just don't "get" the supposed greatness of this album. Aprart from the opening riffs on "Khomaniac", there isn't really anything on it that justifies its comparison to "Rust in Peace" - at least in my highly subjective opinion.

You are totally spot on about everything you said.

This album isn't allowed to tie R.I.P.'s, RtL's, Hell Awaits', Doomsday For The Deceiver's and so many another thrash classic's shoelaces.

I used to regard this as one of my favorite thrash albums of all time, but I just kind of realized that whenever I go to listen to it, I play the first five tracks and then turn it off. A good album, but only half of it is really enjoyable to me, the rest is pretty average thrash.

Totally agreed. The second half is bad, even first half is not that excellent, just considered good. Now I start believing Marcel and Joe meant good for keep calling people trolls...those who rated this album a 10 are surely trolls

Probably the good production effort made it sounds high quality...it's definitely a false impression.

I bought the reissue at a very low price (like 3 euros) at some mainstream music store in Ukraine.

Then I'm quite sure your copy is a pirated from Ayam in Ukraine.

Wow, this is as perfect as thrash metal goes. Technical memorable riffs, well written lyrics, great rhythm section and Flemmings voice which can tear down walls! The only weak point is the Nazareth cover and Don't Believe isn't maybe on par with the rest but other than that it's a great feast of riffs!

Combination of melody and thrash at its finest hour. This album is just as good as the other 2 melodic thrash classics, Ride the Lightning and Rust in Piece. Which is the best of the 3 depends on how you woke up and your moods for the given day. in this trinity Rtl and RiP can complete on who is God the son and who is God the father but without a doubt this album is God the spirit.

You are not metal enough until you visit Kenya. The cradle of mankind, where man learnt first to work with stones and first enjoyed the sounds produced by banging stones which later influenced metal in all its sounds and genres.

One of the finest hours of thrash metal. I love this record in its entirety, from start to finish. It never ceases to amaze me how these guys got every possible thing just right here, except for the cover song "Razamanaz" which isn't bad at all, but doesn't fit really in like it should.

True.

Sadly, Artillery never able to touch the pinnacle ever after the brilliant "By Inheritance".

Wow! Fantastic thrash album! The vocals are really fun and remind me of Metal Church's debut. I also really like the album cover
But what really makes this album so special is the technical guitar-work with the arabic/oriental/Middle-eastern melodies that add this unique flavor to the riffs

Listen to the song "Bombfood" - it's one of the catchiest thrash songs I've heard!

Such a unique album compared to other thrash bands of that time, the riffing is not just melodic, it's very technical, and like mentioned it has a middle Eastern vibe to it. The middle section of the album is immense, it has some of the best riffs I've heard in thrash metal, "Bombfood", and "Don't Believe" in particular are stand out tracks, aswel as the opener, but it didn't have a strong finish imo.
