Just like their debut Heroes Of Origin, Hatriot's Dawn Of The New Centurion has Exodus's Tempo Of The Damned written all over it - same sound, different band. It might be no surprise, then, to hear the legendary Steve "Zetro" Souza belting out these driving, unrelenting songs in his cutting, gravelly whine. The obvious similarity is a double-edged sword, as Hatriot can be either a welcome extra dose of Tempo or a mere copycat, depending on your inclination.

The guy who wrote the Blade Runner book once wrote in reference to Rome that "the empire never ended." So, if Rome can be equated with Thrash right now, and if these guys (Steve Souza and sons) are some of its centurions, kneel and listen, resistance would be stupid.

It's sad for me to say that I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

Is it a carbon copy of Tempo Of The Damned-era Exodus?

I doubt it's a carbon copy, more like a much weaker version of it, if the last album and the track I heard from this is anything to go by.

I'll listen to another song later, but because of the staff pick. Their first album and the last track were at BEST average.

This is one of those things that's improved a ton by its vocals. Riffs are mostly meh and the drums sound plasticky a lot of the time, but Steve Souza's voice is... fuh, I want it inside me.

Indeed Zetro's vocals was the best thing on the album, though, for me, it didn't save it.

Didn't save TENET either. Actually, kinda made them worse.

Interesting analogy but is it a flawed one?

After all the Roman Empire survived by completely changing it's character and nature.

Gone was the Western European part of the empire and in its place lots of smaller fiefdoms.

The Eastern part survived but morphed into the Byzantine Empire which was primarily Greek speaking and rooted in Eastern cultural roots as opposed to the Latinised Western half.

And gone were the disciplined legionaries and their centurions replaced by heavy cavalry as the main strike force.

Never really read into it much, the same guy also thought an ancient satellite communicated with him from some nearby star system via pink lasers (alluded to here) which is basically what the book the Rome quote's in is about. That line definitely stuck with me though.

Good that you mentioned it.

To me, Zetro failed there, failed here (with this band) and probably will fail somewhere else. Why ? Because of mediocre songwriting, both of the times, and as it goes, he hasn't learn about it.

Zetro didn't write the songs here, he just wrote the lyrics and did the voals.

Oh, you're right, but I meant... he is part of this, he is the frontman of, once again, a band that even with his vocals, created below average music.

Man, do some research before you paste your fallacious crap.

Marcel is right, his contribuation was in lyrics(it's very clear). About the album? I think it ain't bad. Below average music? You clearly didn't listen to the album at one go or you just another fat deaf rucksack.

Better go back and check the record again. Or much better, drop yourself to the doctor's clinic to say Hi and check your ear drums.

For the first part, I'm sorry, I know I made a mistake and really bad choice of words : (

And yeah, below average. I listened it twice, in it's entirely, at one go, and I still think it's below average. And I don't think that listening to it some more 100 times would really change my mind. Riffs as said above are mostly meh, some songs are too long, in my opinion it didn't worked really well. even the short ones bored me at half. the drumming was a bit boring too, and the vocals were good.

I don't expect everybody to agree with me anyways, just my two cents
