Some albums define genres. 1998's Tyranny is one of them. Without ever having a chance at contending with bands like Dream Theater in terms of popularity over the years, Shadow Gallery have marked the ages with several cult albums in the field of progressive metal. Tyranny is a deeply political concept album, with themes including the nature of war and the military-industrial complex. It is awesome in so many levels.

1st of a 2 album concept storyline. Very top notch proggressive music. My only spiff is he's one of those singers, at least for me, no matter how hard you pay attention to the lyrics you can't make out on the most part what in the heck he's saying. But if you read along while he is it's no problem and makes perfect sense...weird...reminds me of older James Labrie albums like "Another Day" can't understand what he's saying but it's friggin' awesome.

R.I.P. for the vocalist too =( Heard he passed away from a heart attack recently. He laid down some great tracks. Labrie has a special guest appearance on the album too (Or maybe it was Room V) The new lead singer on Digital Ghosts is fantastic too.

Yeah, it's a great album... still have a lot of time for Shadow Gallery, and Mike Baker is sorely missed... RIP buddy...

First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

Haha, I like your sense of humour, Digital Ghosts to me seems to be the most metal. but all the other albums (especially Room V) don't have that level of energy.
