My favorite Alice Cooper album.
Good album, but thought that Hey Stoopid was a lot better, less Bon Jovi.
Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora co-wrote Hell Is Living Without You, which is a great song BTW and Jon sang on Trash (the song); it was not at all bad, as you say.

"Poison" is a classic rock song, and "Spark In The Dark" has a great riff and chorus. But "Bed Of Nails" is my fave song on this album. Its still commercial like the rest of the album, but there's a touch of the classic Alice menace on this song! I also like "Im Your Gun" and "Why Trust You". Im not normally a fan of that very commercial 80's hard rock, but Alice pulls it off, and makes it sound great! I agree "Hey Stoopid" is better though. xD

Trash is the first Alice Cooper album I've ever heard. Hey Stoopid might be a lot better. But, there's just something in this album that makes it my favorite.

The lyrics on this album are atrocious. Catchy songs but simple and basically pop-rock. Probably designed to appeal to a commercial, mass market. I remember it sold big when it came out. The single Poison was all over the radio and I do love that song. But as a metal album, this really is trash.

But Alice Cooper has pretty much always been hard rock, rather than metal. The lyrics on this album are atrocious, but musically I find there is a lot to love about it.

Yep, you are right about that. I was blinkered in my view because I sometimes can't get out of the mindset that this as a site devoted only to metal albums but obviously there are a lot here that aren't metal. I think my beef with this album is mostly the lyrics and also with the commercial nature of the songs. I do love the song "Poison" and get a real buzz every time I hear it. I think it is a fantastic song (and probably the most commercially successful, so I can't explain that).

Hm, so do you hate it because it's commercial or do you like it because it's catchy? I think I didn't understood it.
Alice cooper is basically hard rock, not metal at all.
I absolutely LOVE at least the first seven songs

I guess you could say it's a "love-hate relationship" I have with this album.

Good album, my favorite track is 'I'm Your Gun' and not the annoying overrated 'Poison'.
Poison is by far the best track of the album, no doubt about it. The rest is pretty weak though

This was Alice Cooper's best album in a decade; the albums coming after From the Inside up to 1989 were either uninspired (Zipper Catches Skin, Special Forces) or uneven (Flush the Fashion, Constrictor, DaDa). The album before Trash was pretty decent though (Raise your fist and yell).
Hey Stoopid! was indeed better than Trash, I agree; so was The Last Temptation.

Hey Stoopid! was even worse than Trash The Last Temptation was indeed better. But only marginally.

I probbably spin Poison on a biweekly basis still But the lyrics hit close to home though, maybe thta helps and I am a sucker for those kinds of songs just like Touch Too Much by AC?DC the exact same kind of feel to the song and lyrics

I guess that is the reason why I've never been able to fully engage with songs that are themed around love/sex/romance type things. I can't relate to them at all, and therefore, even if I like the song musically, there is something preventing me from liking the song fully.
I've only been more surprised on these forums once, than finding out you like Poison (the song, not the band! ). And that was when Ravenking said he thought Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me "isn't a bad song".
I haven't seen RK around these forums for a while now actually...

you do know that I immensely enjoy Hysteria to bits, right? Especially side A with immense songs such as WOmen, Rocket, Animal, Love Bites, Pour SOme Sugar On Me, and Armageddon it. It's that side B pulls it down. I think it is the immense layeredness of the songs that does it for me and although it is immensely overporduced it seems to work on side A

Nope, I had absolutely no idea that you enjoyed "Hysteria", in fact I'd have thought that you despised that album.
It is way too overproduced, and lyrically, it's pretty awful, but musically I love most of it. I would totally agree that side A is far superior to side B. "Gods Of War" is the only song on side B that I love. That song and "Rocket" are my faves on the album. The latter song was actually the first Def Leppard song I ever remember hearing... it's still an immense song to me.

When Aloce was doing his Trash tour, he asked a garbage company if he could rent a truck to ride around in. They said no because they didn't want his name on their garbage trucks. Yep, that sounds about right...

Indeed his best album. From the first guitar riffs of "Poison" to the last scream of "I'm Your Gun", this album is a great sing-along record, with lots of cheesy choruses.

Why Trust You, Only My Heart Talkin' and I'm Your Gun aren't bad but I think their quality is overshadowed by Poison, Spark in The Dark, House of Fire, Bed of Nails and This Maniac's In Love With You, the title track being the weakest on the album.

This was one of the first albums I ever bought. I enjoyed Bed of Nails, Poison, Hell is Living Without You and other classics, but these days it sounds pretty outdated pop rock. The songs are catchy alright, they're just products of their time.
