Imperator is a typical example of a solid, quality album that completely fails to grab my attention. Sorry boys, but that's just the way it is. Imperator contains plenty of enjoyable Black/Death riffs, there's a couple of cool leads here and there and vocalist definitely does what his mother brought him to life for: growling his guts out. And they even add a twist of their own, in the form of the heralding trumpets that pop up every once in a while.
And yet this rather short review does not end with me kissing their *****s. Why not? Well, because I'm not a fan of kissing ****s, but also because I'm not that impressed. As I said, solid stuff and I bet every Black metal fan will be able to enjoy this, but that's it. There are plenty of other things out there I 'enjoy' that aren't necessarily top-notch. Still, for a debut album this is pretty good and since they're already experimenting, who knows what to come?
Dalkhu, my message to you, lock yourself in your studio for a year or two, do plenty of drugs and come back with something really overwhelming. I know you can.
