Isn't this album called Welcome to Sky Valley?
nope. Although that is a popular misconception. People think it's called Welcome To Sky Valley due to the cover art. But when you look on the side of the cd and LP you'll see it's just called Kyuss.
Btw, the band even says it's called Kyuss in "Precious Metal: Decibel Presents The Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces"

Yes it is...and i rather prefer that name...it remembers me of deserts...
And the cover reveals the "Sky Valley" theme!

Yes it is...
No it's not, as has already been established. The band itself has insisted it's self titled.

Bought a bunch of used CD's from a garage sale. This plus a lot of other stoner bands were amongst them and It kind of served as my gateway to the whole stoner Rock genre. The timing couldnt be better since I was already heavily into Stoner/Doom. This is probably one of my fav bands in the genre and an undeniable masterpiece.

Not a massive fan of the songwriting, but as a huge positive, the band had a killer fuzz sound going on this record, which a lot of the new stoner bands seem to have tried to copy. I don't think I prefer any of the songs, except Odyssey.

I don't quite find this as impressive as I first did, I think it's from listening to that many stoner bands since that have copied the same fuzzy guitar tone and style. The riffs aren't really that memorable now tbh, but the vocals I've always found very good.
I'm not saying it's a bad album by any means, but it could have been better imo, for me it just lacks consistency, some songs are impressive especially "Demon Cleaner", and "Odyssey", but the rest was just ok, nothing overly impressive to me tbh.

Why is the most frequently played song from this album on Spotify "Space Cadet"? Shouldnt it rather be "Demon Cleaner", "Odyssey", "Whitewater", or the first two songs? I had said, Demon Cleaner was clearly the most popular song from this album.
It's a good album btw, their sound still feels fresh to this day, I'd say. Yet, I have never been a fan of them, nothing too spectacular in the songwriting department.
