Progressive Metal
Apr 12, 2011
Coming from relative obscurity, this Swiss progressive metal group's album came as a pleasant surprise. While it doesn't hurt to get a little help from Dan Swanö and Devon Graves, these guys do "quite alright" in their own right. There are excellent compositions that keep you interested and some great melodies/ideas throughout for a very consistent album. This isn't cookie-cutter prog metal either, with some unpredictable diversions into power, heavy, folk and electronica for added zest. The songs evoke straightforward feelings of anger and despair that will connect more strongly with the listener than the more convoluted tendencies common in prog bands. Recommended for fans of Ayreon, Pagan's Mind, Scar Symmetry, and/or Vanden Plas.

What an amazing prog metal album. Sad they are still pretty unknown. I also would never heard of this band/album if there is not staff pick section in the main MS page. So thx to the staff, fantastic album.

This one sounds great, and having some renowned guest vocalists is certainly a plus.

I was going to give this album an 8, but then I heard the first song of their previous album... Lyrical continuation my ass, they just copied a song from there and played it a bit faster - that's the album's first song.

And after transcribing the lyrics from the booklet for this website and DarkLyrics I felt even more cheated, and could understand even better why they were no where to be found on the internet in the first place.

Still, the music is great, especially the two longer songs, so they'd scratch a 7. If I could give a 6.5, I would have.

I have to thank Introspect for showing me this album, otherwise I would probably never listen to it.

It is definitely worth checking out.

Yeah it grew on me and now I really love it. It's pretty straightforward "prog" I guess but it gets under your skin fast.

Yes, I also thought it was 'easy' to enjoy, maybe because it was so direct. I remember I liked it ever since the first listen though.

The growls and the clean vocals variation works really well here I think.
