The Groan Of Wind and One From The Stands

This album took a long while to grow on me, but it kept sneaking random tracks into my Spotify sessions. I would hear a track and go "what awesomeness is this?", and when I looked at the name, it was more often than not from this very album. Complex enough to stick, epic and melodig enough to impress, Kalmah have created a fine album indeed here.

Kalmah melodic death metal is one of the most unique groups. I had not seen in the style of melodic death metal stronger than this ....

I love this album. "Nice collection ....

I just raised the rating from an 8 to a 9. This is one of the melodic death metal albums that I'm still not tired of, what a brutal, yet epic and majestetic album!

Best Kalmah effort in my opinion.

Bitter Metallic Side is pure awesomeness, but aside from that I find it very bland and boring. The vocals are horrible as well. As always with Kalmah.

What do you like about Bitter that others dont have? They all seem very similar to me

Yeah, I guess they are all pretty similar. But, things fit together and aren't tedious on that one. Especially, the chorus is pretty rad.

Good album. But not so good as three first. There isn't so much thrash and maybe black influences.....and low vocals are boring sometimes. But songwriting is good as always.

I'm very disappointed about this album There is a big change in the vocals in contrast to the previous albums which now sounds much deeper and muffled. Also the songs are much slower.

In the beginning of the production of "The Black Waltz" kalmah published demo tracks for "Bitter Metallic Side" and "The Groan of the Wind" which sounds much more like the tracks from "Swampsong". Especially The Groan of the wind was a killer song like "hereos to us".

It seems 1.5 year before the release they rerecored the songs in another sound settings to the end result. I have to say my good, first impression were totally ruined

Too much cookie monster vocals, first 3 albums are way better than last 5 mainly because of the vocals.

Pretty good melodeath.

I like the change in vocals in this album. Gave it a darker feel and I think it is a good way of changing it up, relative to the first 3 albums. Very good songs in there. I think there is a good job done in terms of not letting the album becoming repetitive by alternating what I would call filler songs with the better ones, although this is all subjective of course. Overall, another great album by them
