Very solid album. Reminds me of Agalloch here and there with its longer arrangements, but it certainly has a sound all to itself. Highly recommended.

Out of all the atmospheric black releases of 2011 that I have heard so far, two albums from Bindrune Recordings roster stand out from the rest for me: Obsequiae's Suspended In the Brume of Eos and Falls of Rauros The Light That Dwells In Rotten Wood. Both of them are wonderful in their own unique way and with the latter, Falls of Rauros has created a beautiful and relaxing album. It is full of pleasant melodies with some folk elements present here and there between the harsher parts. Highly enjoyable!

I just got an email from the band giving me a free download for this album. It has been re-mastered, comes with a bonus track and new cover art done by a member of the band Panopticon. Sweet! I have no idea why I got the email, maybe I downloaded this album before from their bandcamp site but I don't recall. I just listened to the first few tracks and I dig it. Reminds me of Agalloch.

Simple, but stands out from its contemporaries. Also, quite melodic, which I like

Simple
Calling this "simple" is pretty nonsensical if you ask me. Not everything needs to be (overly) complicated like progressive metal.

Everything is relative my friend
Edit: I think what you meant to say that saying this is simple serves no purpose. It's not exactly nonsensical seeing as the songwriting as a whole is rather digestible. Also, it would do you good not to generalise all progressive metal as overly complicated. Sure, there are countless bands that overdo it, but I can name countless prog bands that don't go over-the-top.

They really never matched the quality on this album in subsequent releases.

Which is really unfortunate, given this is one of the better atmo-black albums of its time.

Stunning album from the Cascadian BM scene. The way in which it should be done, a blend of authentic traditional BM and folk with beautiful acoustic passages and a majestic naturistic atmosphere.

Yeah this is one of those albums that would be included in the definition of Atmospheric Black Metal.
