The bonus track Love, Hate (Slugbaiting) features 3 minutes of material from Fall of Because, Godflesh's predecessor and therefore has Paul Neville on guitars.
The band recorded a video for "Mothra".
Tracks 1-8 recorded at Avalanche Studios September/October 1991. Tracks 9-10 are bonus tracks on the CD. The introduction to track 9 was recorded and mixed in December of 1989 and features 3 minutes of Fall of Because live. This band was the precursor to Godflesh and featured Justin, Ben and Paul Neville. Paul appears on this portion of the song only.
UK vinyl contained a 12"x12" double-sided insert which featured the credits/production information as well as the lyrics to the song "Don't Bring Me Flowers". Initial pressings also came packaged with a 16"x11" fold-out poster.
Initial cassette versions came with a sticker.

Re-released in August of 2009 as part of the Pure / Cold World / Slavestate triple-CD package.

Streetcleaner felt like dying in a putrefied radioactive wasteland... this is a bit mechanical compared to that.Certainly the beats are more hip-hop influenced and more accesible than their previous beast. Certainly more than half of the songs in the NIN discography are a direct descendant from the title track. Pretty much an early prototype for all Industrial bands.

Wasn't sure if I liked the direction the band was headed after Slavestate. I am glad they returned to their roots a little with this one. Not totally devoid of electronica influence but you can still feel the gravel and dirt. My favorite JK Broadrick release. Period. "Don't Bring Me Flowers" has to be one of the best song titles ever!

My favorite JK Broadrick release. Period.

I thought you'd like to see this. Try to not die of sheer envy!
Footage of Godflesh performing Pure in its entirety at Roadburn 2013. Needless to say they fucking nailed it just like they did with Streetcleaner bak in 2011.

Probably in the minority here, but I prefer this slightly to Streetcleaner. Both albums are excellent, but this one seems a little more versatile for me, and that's particularly what I like to hear from the sub-genre the most. Favourite songs from this one are the title track and "Baby Blue Eyes".

Really good album. Streetcleaner is forever my fave, but really enjoyed this (and Selfless) when they came out as well.

Really love this one as well but I'm with Craig here. Streetcleaner is a forever favorite. It's crushing power is unmatched.

"Spite", "Predominance" and the self-titled are major favorites. I highly admire the beats on this one as you can almost dance to them and would not feel out of place in and alternative/goth/industrial/techno club.
