Tanner's probably pissing himself. Don't really care about this band but I'll give this a listen or two once it's out.

I'm really looking forward to this new album. Especially as one of the people who crowdfunded it.

Same here, really stoked to see the exclusive artwork/booklet that comes with the crowd-funder version of the CD.

I was actually quite uninterested in Scurrilous; the technicality of their playing increased but Roddy writes some dumb lyrics for shit. I wish we can get another Kezia. Hell, another Fortress will be good.

First listen through and this album is pretty beast. Don't want to call it too early, but I think this will be my favorite PtH album.

Part-time boring, most-time awesome. So standard PTH work. I miss the -core from this a little bit though.

Quite similar to Scurrilous, perhaps a bit stronger.
Both of which are far inferior to Fortress imo.

EDIT after a few more listens: Actually this is an excellent album, not as far behind Fortress as I thought at first.

This is going to be album of the year straight up. Unbelievably fun to listen to but plenty to sink your ears into when it comes to the detailed composition. Some pretty wild key changes, and some complex chords to give new color to otherwise typical chord progressions. I just can't get enough. I'm also a sucker for underlying guitar and bass counter melodies (one of the reasons I love Blind Guardian and Periphery). This one's a gem guys. Whether you're someone that really breaks it down to the theory or someone that just wants to belt out vocals and headbang this brings enough to the table to satisfy everyone's cravings.

Save for the slightly overtly cheesy vocals and the lack of stand-out singles, this record is nearly flawless.

I still don't know with this record. I possibly need some more listens to get it to sink in, but I'm not feeling "it" the way I did instantly when I discovered the other 3 albums...

Definitely their best so far. Equally fun and clever as someone already said above.
Will 9 this one if it don't get tired of it soon, which will probably be the case.

No. Since they released 'Fortress' I can't find in their music. I love Fortress, specially symphonic parts, but for me, this albbum is just good. Nothing special.

Don't know what all those people saying this is their best album been listening... Volition is simply so far from the brilliance of Fortress and Kezia. Of course, they've got skills and all, and still write interesting stuff (like the first two songs) and a few brilliant moments here and there, but they did all this before and much better.

If it's just good, then wouldn't you rate it lower than a 9? A 9 is a little overboard for something that is "good".

I changed my mind when I listen it more times. It's not still as good as 'Fortress' but very, very good.

On my 8th time through, Fortress is still their best album, but Volition is honestly just a sliver behind, it's pretty damn good. Love all of the guest performances, makes this album feel like a big deal.

UPDATE

Yeah, now that I've listened to this album legit 20 times, I put it above Fortress. I'm in love. Been a while since I've been so enamored with an album.

It's a shame that PTH are more interested in wanking (musically speaking) than making great songs now. What a disappointment.

I like technical and complex music, but not when it's done this way. Scurrilous was so good though...

Not sure I agree about Scurrilous, but this album had a great deal of wankery. I wish they would return to the top quality of Fortress.

Many people seem to have hated Scurrilous but I loved it. This one is just so over-the-top, not in a good way.

There's like zero -core in this indeed. In my opinion it's closer to overwanked power metal than anything else.
