Bloodshot Dawn - Drummer Leaves Band
British outfit Bloodshot Dawn have announced the departure of their long-time drummer/vocalist Doug Anderson. However, he leaves the band on good terms and they remain close friends. The reason for this split was due to musical and creative differences. Bloodshot Dawn promise to continue working on their second album and will announce details regarding the search for a new drummer in the near future.
Doug issued this statement: "What's up Bloodshot friends and fans! It saddens me to write this, but yes it is true, I am officially stepping down as the drummer of Bloodshot Dawn. This may be coming as a shock to some, in fact I'm still adjusting to the idea myself, but as they say 'it's time'.
For those of you who don't know (or may not realise) I have actually been in the band for 8 years now. I joined fresh (acne) faced at 17! Through the years I put everything I had into Bloodshot, and have been proud to watch it evolve into the beast is today. But at the ripe old age of 25 and a half, I unfortunately have to part ways with the guys.
It's not easy to explain why I have decided to leave the band. Put simply, it's down to a clash, musically and creatively. That doesn't mean to say we don't still all have the goal of making sick metal tunes, it just means the way we make them is no longer something I can find enjoyment in. With the bands ever growing success, I'm forced to reflect on the bigger picture with a lot of things in my life, and I've come to see that Bloodshot's future doesn't appeal to me.
The timing is no coincidence here. Bloodshot are writing album two, and have nothing booked for the first time in a LONG time (around 3 years). So this gives the guys plenty of room to find someone new, and to have his or her input on the new material as much or as little as they deem fit. As it stands I have made no real contributions to the new album, so my name will not be on it.
So there it is! I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the band, you guys are the best. I'm very proud of what Bloodshot Dawn has achieved so far, this band is like my baby in some ways! The success of the first album blew me away, and getting to tour places like Japan and India was something I could have only dreamed of doing 8 years ago! I've toured with people in the scene I consider true legends and shared beers with actual, real life heroes of mine! I wouldn't trade my time in the band for anything. I wish Ben, Ant and Josh all the success and happiness they could ever want, I love you guys."
