For all seasoned members of our beloved death metal cult, shock value isn't a thing anymore. The walls of sound are hardly impenetrable and all the pieces fall into place with ease. Our attraction towards more extreme and intricate metal is fueled by our desire to go back to that time where chaos was the norm and order was our goal. Yes, my comrades, despite what others might say: there is order in this maelstrom of visceral riffs, disturbing drumming and monstrous vocals.

I feel obligated to check this out, but I probably won't. Can't stand this Portal-y stuff for the life of me.

I still recommend checking it out. There are lots of cool guitar solos that come flying in out of the blue in the first 3 tracks or so. It is a rather interesting listen. The first 3 songs are quite a bit different than the rest of the album. The pace changes with the 4th song, and then the finale is quite diabolical as well.

You may not enjoy it, but I'd say it's worth taking the time.

A fair bit more than I did Portal, at least. It seems like something I can appreciate more. I've only tackled it once though, I'll have to see if I can unearth anything further out of it from repeated listens.

Shit tits. I knew I must have been missing something. I simply wasn't listening to this album at the necessary volume. Reevaluating now.

I just thought your ears were clogged , but I'm glad you're giving it a second go. It's not the best of the style by any means, but it's a damn good album in my opinion.

Perhaps I heard a bad copy last time or something. Can't really understand how it sounded so differently to me before.

Although, to be fair this may only sound fantastic now in juxtaposition to the latest Periphery album I just inexplicably tortured myself with... or is it: with which I just inexplicably tortured myself?... doesn't matter. Ear bleach all the same.

tbh, I prefer this to everything that portal/IR have done up to now. Definitely one of my most revisited albums of the last year and one of the ultimate cavernous DM records I've ever heard.
