8.5 		When vocalist/bassist Marcus Schmier reunited with guitarist Mike Siffringer in 1999, old school thrash fans salivated over what the legendary German act Destruction would bring forth with their return. 2000's ?All Hell Breaks Loose? was, if anything, a solid release. The follow up, 2001's ?The Antichrist? moved even closer to the original Destruction design of old, and while unanimously garnishing great reviews, the best would prove yet to come.

Though overshadowed by the band's previous two albums, this one is fairly decent and solid. The problem is there are a few songs where the band sound like they're trying too hard to emulate the greatness of their peers, and as a result it simply sounds like a mess. That said, no-one can argue with the brilliant riffs and solos in 'The ravenous beast' and 'Desecrator of the new age'.

Not as good as the two previous albums, still quite listenable, the production is not as good either. I don't know what happened there.
