Few bands have taken melodic death metal so far along a progressive route as Cormorant. These guys are an entirely independent group and their style is adventurous, downright impressive and unparalleled in individuality. Earth Diver is their third effort in a discographical success story, each time they've committed themselves to a release on their own terms they've put out astonishingly creative melodic metal. That is a guarantee which they continually assure.

Not as good as Dwellings but still pretty good. I'm really enjoying this.

Arthur's emotional lyrics and vocals and the blues influence are gone, otherwise this is as good as Metazoa, a bit darker.

I've been meaning to check this out as well. I don't regard myself as a large Cormorant fan, but I don't imagine I'll be disappointed by this.

I would definitely recommend giving it a listen, it's different from their other two as Fredd pointed out, so perhaps you'll find this one more to your liking.

Just listened to this, and it sounds really good!

Perhaps the genre given here is a bit misleading though... Definitely a larger black (and maybe even folk) influence than melodeath here, even if the melodeath elements are noticeable.

Agreed. Although they're a hard band to classify with just one term. Regardless of the genre, it's pretty solid.

My favourite thing about this album: feels old school. It's not overproduced but still sounds pretty good and everything its perceptable.

A different sound and direction than their previous two. More blackened and less melodic for sure. Not a bad thing, just doesn't have the same feel as their earlier work.
