In light of the last 10-15 years of Nightwish releases, one would be easily forgiven for thinking that Tuomas Holopainen has lost it as a songwriter. Mr. Holopainen's 2014 solo album, The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck, however, is a genuinely great album that refutes that notion to a large extent.

I still don't see why this couldn't have been the 8th Nightwish album. There's bugger all here that wouldn't have sounded out of place on Imaginaerum.

I thoroughly enjoyed this album, very warm and even nostalgic at times. I like that this doesn't sound like an overly-ambitious Nightwish album either.

A great album, way better than Nightwish's entire discography, especially their early albums. Quality is on par to "The Greatest Show On Earth" (without the speaking, that is). Instrumentation was exceptionally good, as a fan of classical music and film score music, the lack of guitars meant no drop in quality.
