I have to be honest, I was quite excited for this album when I heard the tracks that the band released before the official launch of the album ("Silence In The Snow" and "Until The World Goes Cold"), so I bought the record on the day it came out. Now I listened to most of the albums that Trivium has released (mostly because they seem to have a pretty big fanbase), but I have to say that outside of Shogun there aren't many albums by them that are interesting, in my opinion. Most of their albums are forgettable to me. I really thought Silence In The Snow would change that. I really liked the two previously mentioned tracks, but when I listened through the whole album, I realized that outside of "Cease All Your Fire" they were the only tracks that I liked.

The hated Silence In The Snow is Trivium's best album.

I'm really looking forward to this, Matt's voice sounds great in the currently released songs. Apparently the screams are entirely gone, so I'm curious to see what direction the band continues to take from here. I always felt as if the screams were out of place in their recent albums, so as long as they don't sell out then it's a great change for me.

EDIT: It has leaked. It's more in the line of hard rock than the thrashy metalcore sound they had in the past. They actually pull it off pretty decently. It's generic as hell (it's Trivium, what do you expect), every song has practically the same structure and chorus, riffs are typical Trivium (take that how you will), Matt's voice is great but gets boring by the end. I was actually hoping for his scream to appear in one of the songs just to break up the monotony, but it never happened. In other words, it's a hard rock Trivium. It's one of their weaker efforts but it's not bad. It never comes off as a sellout album at the very least, just them growing out of metalcore.

It's so monotonous though holy shit...

Letdown of the year for me, I don't like this as much as their old days, which is a great shame because Ascendancy was the album that got me into metal. It's not because they changed their sound... I loved The Crusade and that was different. I just feel none of the new songs are as memorable as their older material, it feels as though the energy that shaped their sound in Ascendancy/Crusade/Shogun has began to wear off.

They actually do a pretty convincing job of showing that they can pull off this style of metal, but the songwriting falls flat and the formula goes stale far too quickly. Still a step up from the horrid Vengeance Falls, but can't help but feel like the potential for this album to be decent has been squandered. Blind Leading the Blind is a solid track, but didn't find anything else about this memorable.

Matt's vocals may have improved, but sometimes it's annoying. Who he's trying to sound like in tracks 4 and 5? Because it does reminds me of avenged sevenfold singer, or another of the kind, whatever. Tracks 2, 3 and 11 are solid, but this surely is their worst effort since In Waves, oh, that was unbearable.

I actually quite enjoyed "The Ghost That's Haunting You" for what it was I thought it did its job. But man, this is a fairly insipid album. I quite like Heafy's vocal tone now, but it does sound very strange and not quite a convincing as it used to, and there is something missing from quite a few of the songs - several of them are fairly interchangeable. Thankfully Trivium had already fallen down in my 'top bands' list in the past few years so this isn't such a gutting disappointment, but I still wouldn't mind them doing something enjoyable soon - heck, I still like In Waves, I'm not that tough to please.

The only reason this doesn't get a 1 from me is because most songs have a moderately catchy riff at the start. Otherwise, it makes me want to puke.

Today's hit music, featuring Trivium! Slowly going downhill since Ascendancy. I don't even know why I try to listen any more. A lot of songs sound like copies of other bands, and I don't know why but a lot of songs sound like Three Days Grace, am I the only one?

Bottom line, it's not good for metal. But if you like Pop Rock, it's probably your album.

It's more alternative and mainstream but so what it's very good in that kinda category "8.3" and I like Matt's clean voice even more than his unclean (harsh) voice! only with just more Groovy Thrash element from their past and more better songs you can get great music from this band and this style!

Absolute sellout bullshit

This bands front man runs around in freakin Emperor T shirts, and then makes this bullshit? You got to be kidding me

You do realize one can like accessible music and not-so-accessible music at the same time, right?

Yes, but one cannot respect both at the same time

You can like something & not actually respect it, as long as you're aware that it's basically low integrity shit/A guilty pleasure

Accessible music by itslef isn't something that deserves disrespect.

The only aspect of this behavior of his that annoys me is that back in 2004, during the Roadrunner United Sessions, he says he wants to do a black metal band someday, and he's yet to do that. Really aggravates me because I was really looking forward to that.

I still enjoy Trivium though, and I do enjoy this album pretty well. And now I can enjoy it even more that I've been able to find someone who could properly equalize it so I'm not having to adjust the volume up/down every couple tracks to compensate for the apparently ridiculously high DR mix that causes most of the tracks to be really quiet.

Overall a dull album imo. I expected more when I heard Silence In The Snow (the song) for the first time, I thought that the album could be a good one... turns out Silence In The Snow is one of the few songs that I really like. Until The World Goes Cold is also really good imo. But that's about it (maybe Cease All Your Fire but that's only on the deluxe edition).

All the other songs feel dull. The overall production of the album is really good. Excellent even. The guitars sound powerful, the drums sound good, etc. It's just the songs themselves feel lackluster to me.

Disappointing
