I think this might be my front-runner for album of the year.

This one and Bossk's Audio Noir. I still need to listen to MotA, though.

"Stages" is such a marvelous piece of music. So emotional, so somber and yet so marvelous.

Album of the year.

No metal at all and also not doom als not hard rock, maybe rock, almost singer songwriter sort of stuff, just a great slab of music.

Good call Marcel. Sometimes it's better not to classify, not to genre tag, just shut the fuck up and listen and enjoy. Very emotional stuff. I feel his pain.

I am the first to genre tag and such. But it is impossible in this case
It's emotional stuff like Nick Cave, Leanord Cohen and such.

This is one of the best things I'd ever listened to.

I was listening to this and suddenly realized who Patrick Walker's cadence reminds me of; so I opened YouTube and played R.E.M. - Losing My Religion on half speed. It's uncanny

One of the most evocative albums created by a metal musician, though no traces of metal can be found with the exception of the doom-esque pacing and atmosphere. As Marcel mentioned before, this is essentially doom's singer-songwriter equivalent.

To me, this further stripped down approach suits their sound better than their debut and allows for Walker's voice to carry the burden, so to speak. "Pictures" is as close to an up number as this band will ever get, which is saying a lot, as it still maintains the desolate vibe established from the beginning of "Stages".

Good doom, a bit Kostas and Pantheist style more adult orientated doomy music , some say Anathema in post doom era is emotional, this is much better to me. Indeed underrated band

Not sure what the fuck slowcore is but this is a stone-cold beast of an album.
