The last Finsterforst album had a song as long as other bands' albums, and now they come out with a release that's slightly longer, but they still operate above calling it an album.

I got it early and God damn they were not kidding around with this.

Jenseits is a 39 minute song and every minute of it was so thoroughly captivating that this might just be the best thing they have ever done. It's a HUGE epic masterpiece and while there wasn't much in it that redefined their sound, in this case bigger is better. It's going to take a lot more listens to really judge but it blew me away. At the very least, in a year of some very strong albums this is probably going to be the only one that I will rate a 10.

Edit: The production sound on this is fantastic and, along with all the layers in the writing, the vocal performances absolutely carry it. I know this band isn't for everyone but I listened through Jenseits at least once a day for over 3 weeks straight. I live for this shit.

First part is particularly excellent but yea just like the previous records, you can't judge it from first listen and even from first ten listens.

Not sure why this is counted as an EP when it's 40 minutes, but yeah I like it, Finsterforst are very good at the epic folk odysseys

My experience was to think, "This is a lot like Moonsorrow. As a result, it's quite good."

This is my introduction to this band, and boy, the reviews were not wrong. These guys are good. Probably the best folk metal album of 2023 for me.

Played it couple dozen of times, so the verdict is this: yet another epic and glorious chapter by Finsterforst, full of crushing guitars. beautiful arrangements and outsanding vocal performance. More or less exactly what I would expect from these guys.

Loved the chorus on the first chapter. The flow of this album is steady and sort of peaceful for me.
