05. Hated
Misery Inc. is coming from Finland and is playing gothic metal. Sounds familiar? With all the load of new gothic band coming from Finland, why should I have to pay attention to this relatively new band [formed in 2001], why should I take the time to review this Cd, their third demo so far? Simple my friends, talent, plain talent.
So, what does Suicide Serenade offer us? 5 tunes, reminiscent of Sentenced and some Paradise Lost too, but don't worry, the band manages to distance from their obvious influences, creating a very particular sound.
The Demo kicks off with "Suicide Serenade" a really powerful track, that shows the aggressive vocals of Jukkis, but wait, it only gets better! The second track, "Darkness" is a killer one! Love this one, it has a really catchy chorus! The next song, "Life ain´t fair" is the weakest song in the Cd, they have to work a little harder in the mid-paced / slow songs , although the backing vocals in this one are great. "Follow" another great song, but not so great as the Cd closer, "Hated [the last song]" this is my favorite song on the demo, starts with a nice piano, and soon blasts off , accompanied by a cool guitar line.
To sum things up, if you like dark and chunky riffs, aggressive vocals and a little of Sentenced over here and over there, get this one. I really hope that Misery Inc. gets a record contract soon, because, they deserve it! Good luck guys!
