Actually, I like Gothic Metal, really! And I have very few Gothic Metal bands that I don't like, since almost everything Gothic impresses me, (I'm on my "Gothic Metal" phase, long gone are the Black and Power ages), so, I don't know why Germans Beyond Surface failed to impress me with this, their debut album "Destination's End"

The bands has it's share of melancholy, deep vocals, keyboards, easy-listening compositions, you name it, they have it, I mean not every Gothic Metal band has to come from Finland right?
The band resembles to H.I.M. (those Finnish Goths lead by Vile "yes I know I'm a hunk" Vallo) in many aspects, mainly because they play a kind of "soft" Metal, you know, when your non-Metal friends are at home, often called "Love Metal" but those are just labels.

Anyway, the winner ingredients are there, so I can't understand why this album didn't impressed me, usually I'm easily impressed with this type of bands, maybe is that the sign that my Gothic Metal phase is over? From now on nothing of the genre will impress me? And more riddling yet, what is going to be my next phase (please God don't choose country music? keep me Metal).

So, this didn't impressed me, but that doesn't mean that is bad or I didn't liked it! As a matter of fact is a very good album, maybe a couple of years late, but is a good effort from these Germans.
Hey lookie, the review is almost over and all I did was rant about my tastes, is very hard to live with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).

Recommended for any fan of decent Gothic Metal in the vein of H.I.M., For My Pain and other Finnish acts. You won't be disappointed, I promise, like I promised a friend one day when we were drinking some beers in a bar that had this funny looking paintings of dogs playing cards, I think it was Poker, but I'm not sure, maybe I should ask my uncle, he plays cards very often with my cousin, who works? Damn That ADD!
