I have to start this review with a quote, a quote from the backside of the promo I received from Century Media, it goes;
"Agents of Man have always strived to forge their own unique musical path, whether it be by ignoring current trends of fashions?".
So that's why they are playing in the more overcrowded genre we have today? Ok, now I understand (irony).
Agents of Man is just another commercial Nu-Metal (Mallcore) band from USA that's hoping to get their big breakthrough with simple, trend-following songs that sounds like almost any other band in the same genre today.
Personally I just find it boring, this genre is very limited and it feels like every corner of it is already explored. But in some strange way, this music still goes strong in the States, and I wouldn't be surprised if Agents of Man will get a song or two on a radio station or even on a music program on TV.
Here in Europe I don't think they have much to gain, this music hasn't really struck here yet, and I don't think it ever will.
Anyway, the music is, as I said, pretty common American Nu-Metal with typical song structures, clean vocals mixed with some harsh vocals and quite repeating riffing.
If we shall try to find a band that Agents of Man sounds much like, I would say Papa Roach, at least in the song "Blood Money" where they "borrowed" much from that band.
But even Linkin Park is popping up in my head, even if I feel that Agents of Man has something that Linkin Park missing, a tendency of Metal and some heaviness.
But in the end, I can't say that Agents of Man is either good or bad, since they are pretty ok in what they are doing, but as far as it comes to this boring and repetitive genre, a band won't point out much enough to really become big today, I think Agents of Man is a few years for late for that.
But if your into Nu-Metal and like the bands USA is spitting out, I can't see a reason why you wouldn't like Agents of Man either.
For the rest of us, that's either grown tired of the genre or never liked it, you can easily skip this and spend your money on something more valuable.
