It's always hard for me to do the review of an EP. After all, a lot of time this is just a preview of an upcoming album, and it's not so easy to write something about it. But at least we only have two songs (Mean Streets and 24/7) of the upcoming U.D.O. album, "Mission N°X") and three "original" songs on this EP then?

Well well as always with U.D.O. there is two visions. The one of the people who love him and Accept (and who don't need reviews to buy their albums anyway) and the one of the ones who cannot stand his really special vocals (and it's a bit my case actually). Fan of U.D.O. no worries Mr Dirkschneider always has a similar voice (even if it's clearly not better unfortunately), however this time, the band seems to choose to play something that sounds a bit more "new". I mean that some songs like "Mean Streets" (musically simple as hell, and the "talky" vocals are not so far of... Hip Hop that's incredible (and above all really funny)) seems to follow the trend of the bad and "easy" Heavy Metal?

This is just an impression maybe and actually the powerful and catchy "24/7" like the Hard Rock'ing "Number for A Nulmber" save the whole EP. If the album (in our stores the 3rd of October 2005) follow this way, no problem but if it's in the vein of a "Main Streets", we will have a really bad surprise?

I cannot add anything else, if you like U.D.O. and wants some "un-released" songs, you can buy this EP, but the best thing to do in my opinion is to wait October and the new album of Mr Udo "Mission N°X". However, you can have at least a look on this EP maybe just to lsiten to the song 24/7?
