Rotting Corpse Records just released this year's Metal Compilation, a CD filled with great bands, some just good, and other actually kind of average. This Compilation is all about supporting Metal bands (either unsigned or underground), they did a great job this year really, many of those bands actually sound amazing; so, let's analyze this Compilation a little bit.
The CD starts amazingly with Doom Syndicate (This band actually impressed me vastly when I heard their Full Length album) the track is "Sever The Leech" a great cut filled with brutality, awesome drum beats and fucking catchy riffs; Doom Syndicate will soon be know by many metal-heads, this band is totally worthy. Then we get to "Spiral (by "Chainsnap") a really catchy tune with powerful music but weak vocalizations, no harm done actually, the music grows stronger than the vocals, and eventually this tune becomes actually very good.
The album flows smoothly and quite amazing, we have great bands like "Ominous", "Vesicant", etc. then a different kind of tune appears, a mellow guitar intro emerges out of nowhere creating a really dark atmosphere, the song is "With My Knife" the band "3 Headed Moses"; after the mild intro, the tune bursts and the distortion fills the environment; this track is actually very good, Death Metal with some Doom structures and aggressive vocalizations, "With My Knife" is a great song, raw and somehow Doomy, but hell it's catchy and astonishing.
"TIS" by Kill The Messenger is also very good, a Brutal/bizarre song by the way; the vocals are lined towards Brutal Death, the guitars sound Melodic at times, the Drumming goes both ways (Brutal and Melodic), the final result, a great song. The Compilation is actually very interesting, and most bands fit quite well in the atmosphere, with the exception of "Desolate Sky", a Power/Thrash metal band that actually sounds really average, and out of order.
I liked this compilation, and I highly recommend you to search for the bands programmed in the track-list, get the Compilation, some bands you'll like some band's you won't, you be the judge.
Best Bands: "Doom Syndicate" (The best one actually), "Ominous", "3 Headed Moses", "Kill The Messenger", "In Autumn" (great drummer).
