Have you ever felt that weird "I've heard this before" feeling while listening to an album? It's more o less what I felt when I first pushed play on my stereo; this band has so many influences that the music suddenly becomes oddly familiar, in a good way that is, I mean, the music does not sound like a rip-off or something; anyway, let's analyze this EP a little more.
16 minutes of pure hatred and raw music; Tracks 3 and 4 (singed by Glenn) are leaning towards Death Metal and violent riffs, but tracks 2 and 5 (both singed by Jarro) tend to be Black Metal, both tracks have a lot of raw riffs and shrieked vocals. So as you can see, this band gets an A++ in versatility, not only for mixing genres (that's not really impressive, many bands do that all the time) but for doing it in a really good way, the tracks have amazing structure undeniably, and even though they reach two genres, the music in general has a basic pattern, this way the music does not sound all fucked up or irrational.
Personally I loved the third and fourth track, those songs have incredible riffs and awesome scales, the drum pattern is wicked as hell (very catchy) and the vocal work is more than amazing, then again, I prefer Death over Black, so maybe if you are into Darkthrone or Marduk you'll love the Black metal ones instead. My only complain comes in the production quality, this EP sounds a little muddy in some parts, and in many bits the instruments are louder than the vocals. And another thing, the artwork is simplistic and minimalist, yes many EP's have awful basic artwork, but some cool designs or at least the lyrics would've been a lot better indeed.
This album will surely surprise more than one, it's a very good release indeed, the tracks are digestible and very catchy, I will be waiting for the Full-Length though, I'm sure the will do a better work there, so I'm actually very interested.
