I know already many of you are clicking on this review because of the cover art, is funny, is creepy and is simply great. And I know, many of you haven't seen this cover in any webzine, Cd store or Metal magazine, the answer is easy, this band doesn't moves in Metal circles, so if you're open minded read this, if not, forward to the next review.
The Birthday Massacre is a brew of all kinds, take some electro synthpop, some eighties new wave, some industrial Metal and there you have it, as you can notice this definitively will NOT appeal every Metal fan out there. Only for open-minded listeners only.
The songs are catchy, but many fail to get my attention, the band counts with a female vocalist who handles all the vocals duties, her vocals are nice but they rarely reach their potential, they dwell in the same range always. Electronic elements are always present, but sometimes they get to pop for my tastes, forcing me to skip songs.
I could recommend this Cd for anyone that enjoys the whole Synthpop movement, I know for a fact that are many metalheads that love eighties Synthpop, new wave and EBM music, so this could be a real treat for you, as for more classic Metalheads I don't find any reason to recommend the album, so, you're on your own here, your good pal Undercraft is reserving his opinion to avoid confrontation, I'm so fuckin' smart.
