Putting back the technique on technical

Wow! I'm totally shocked, because I don't usually go for this kind of releases, you know I'm very picky with Brutal Death Metal, but this is not brutal at all (although the album name made me thought so). Domination Through Impurity is a three piece from The United States with members of renowned bands such as Lust Of Decay, Nile, among others.

Judging by the cover art, the label and the song titles I was sure this was some kind of Brutal Death Metal, but damn I was wrong, Domination Through Impurity plays Technical Death Metal with a capital T. The band showcases amazing skills when composing mind-altering songs, the structures and song-writing are top notch, the drums, the riffing and the bass lines are all high quality here.

I bet not everyone has heard the name Jordan Varela, but I'm sure you're going to hear it on a near future because this guy sure knows how to handle those drums, the awesome drum patterns are one of the best assets of the band, combined with the complex song structures filled with ever-changing riffs every second.

The only downpoint of the album are the vocals, they're the typical undecipherable low growls, which we're tired to hear in each and every Death Metal album. A little variation in the vocal department would be more than welcome for future releases.

Despite the flaws that the album may have, this is serious technical shit. Mostly recommended for all who enjoy complex structures and intricate musicianship.

Good review. Joe Payne impressed me on guitar, I didn't know he was that good. The album gets a little repetitive, but not enough to bore me. 8 is a good rating.

hehe I didn't know MS had a review of this album...that's awesome

The drumming on this album is fucking amazing. Jordan Varela sounds like a drum machine with the sudden time changes. Actually, everything on this album is really good. Joe's vocals are menacing and the guitars are very technical.

This band reminds me exactly of Spawn of Possession.

Did the drums sound funny to anyone on this album? Maybe it's just me, I complain about the sound of drums a lot.

From two people that have played in a couple of my favorite bands (Lividity and Nile).
Very good album, one of my most frequently played.
