Damn lately it seems to become a trend in France to have a lot of great albums, especially on the super label Thundering Records. And to prove that I'm not lying, today, we will talk about the excellent Kragens, a great band which gave a big kick in my ass with the release of their first album, "Dying In The Desert". Right now, they're back with their new release, "Seed Of Pain" and let me tell you that we're in front of one of the best release of the category. If you like great Power/Thrash Metal don't miss this release?

Kragens still plays its really cool mix of Thrash and Power/Heavy Metal but no doubt that "Seeds Of Pain" is the proof that the band is becoming better and better with time. I mean that even if "Dying In The Desert" was already a great album, "Seeds Of Pain" is a lot better, more mature. The sound of Kragens is actually simple, just imagine some super effective Thrash riffs mixed with the melodies of Heavy metal and the punch of Power Metal add some amazing clean and melodic vocals (Renaud Espeche is probably one of the best singer from France), add Thrash ones plus and some Death ones and you can understand how it sounds. Bud don't believe that you're in front of something similar to the trendy cheesy European Power Metal bands, Kragens plays something that we could find in the USA, and above all their music is so heavy, powerful and catchy that it is impossible to compare it with the "knights and swords" music that we're able to listen to everyday here in Europe. On a side, Kragens is more a melodic Thrash band than anything else.

"Seed Of Pain" is a total success, at least for me but I'm sure that a lot of you will agree with my statement, the songs are amazing and some of them, like "Seed Of Pain", are for me now, real classics. And anyway even if some songs are probably better than some others, the general level of the album is so high that it is impossible to be bored by this music, this is a great piece of music my friends. Though I don't find a lot of problems on "Seeds Of Pain", the production is excellent, and the only reproach that will come from me is about the cover. Effectively, when you compare the cover of Seed Of Pain to the great drawing made by JP Fournier for "Dying In The Desert" this is a bit like a deception this time? But evidently the quality of music hides this little problem?

"Seed Of Pain" is a real killer. If you like Thrash, like Power or Heavy this is for you. Really I'm serious this is one of the best album that I had to listen to lately and I cannot stop to listen to it. This is fresh, well-done and classy, so don't miss this amazing release. "Seeds Of Pain" is one of my favorite albums of the year and an excellent confirmation.
