For those unfamiliar with this name, Collision is a Grindcore/Hardcore act from the Netherlands, they released a full-length with Bizarre Leprous Productions a few years ago receiving great comments and reviews, and now they bombarded us with their second assault released with Bones brigade Records called "Roadkiller"

This album is a nonstop grinding attack that will crush your brain in every single cut found in it; to be honest this is the first time I ever hear these Dutch guys music though, I'm glad I did as their album blew me away with all those complex structures and humorous lyrics that wrap the aggressive musicianship in "Roadkiller". It's a bizarre mix actually, songs like "On The Loose To Reproduce" or "Heading For The End" gave hints of serious music and good social critiques, but then songs like "Oh My Goth" or "Body Building Blowout" start mocking about Goths and Arnold Schwatzer-something in a hilarious way.

The whole concept reminds me to Macabre a little bit, without the serial killers humor that is, Collision has a great balance in their music, they can easily switch from a speedy song that talks about DR. Phil to a mid-paced and complex one that talks about Humanity, and actually get away with it. Fortunately they have an original songwriting to back them up, most of the songs have ascending structures and intricate changes here and there while fast as hell Grindcore is their main goal to achieve, it's even complex to explain to begin with.

This is a worthwhile release from an underground and really hostile band (They sound pissed even when talking about Kung Fu), so if you're a fan of the genre don't think this through, just go and buy right now.

Best Tracks: "Drama Queen", "Heading For The End", "Car Crash Cruelty", "A New Age Of Stupidity" (the lyrics of the last one are just incredibly amazing)

Hehe, when I was in WACKEN this year, a random guy gave me this Collision EP. It features the songs "Redneck Rampage", "On the Loose to Reproduce" and a song from their first album. This review inspired me to listen to it again, it's nice indeed, but not so special imho.
