Damn I didn't know that it was possible to find a good band of Thrash Metal in France, but I had a great surprise when I listened to the re-edition of "Dawn Of The New Sun", the second album of Blackness, a band from Lyon (France). With their mix of American and European Thrash, this young combo finally proves that we're able to play this kind of music in frogland. Please, be sure that you'll have a look on this release, definitely, "Dawn Of The New Sun" is a great album.

The Thrash Metal of Blackness is hyper melodic but hyper brutal too. In fact, this is the perfect mix between the melodies of the American Thrash (especially Testament) with the anger of the European one a la Kreator. The guitars are extremely heavy and brutal but the band has put a lot of technical melodies in all their compositions and in the end, this "Dawn Of The New Sun" is just a delicious piece of music. The whole album is full of super hits, but I have to warn you too, this is not classic old school Thrash. First the voice of Pedro clearly sound Thrash (in a brutal way) but it will be a bit disturbing if you like classic really high Thrash metal vocals. Also, the music of Blackness is fast with frenetic rhythms produced by the bass and drums and it's also really melodic (I'm not complaining here, I like it!) with some excellent soli but yes it's not a la old school, and we cannot hear the punk influences that we have in the majority of the classic Thrash Metal release. Don't worry, it's not a problem too especially if you like the last Kreator and? Heavy Metal?

This re-edition of "Dawn Of The New Sun" was a must because it was extremely hard to find this album, though here in addition, you'll be able to listen to three (excellent) bonus tracks. Also, the sound is excellent but it's not surprising when you know that it was recorded at the LB (Loudblast) Studios in the North of France. No really there is nothing to say, if the band is able to confirm all these words with their upcoming album I can tell you that we will start to hear a lot of good words about them soon. They have all the potential to become famous.

If you like Thrash Metal and Heavy Metal and believe that we can mix those two different styles, then "Dawn Of The New Sun" is a must. Don't except classic Thrash here but Blackness just has found the way to take all the different influences in Thrash Metal to mix them together and produce a classy album. I really hope that the new album of Blackness will follow this way because if the guys can do it then we will be able to be proud of French Trash soon. Don't miss this album please!
