+ DVD

"Misanthrope" is one of the oldest extreme Metal bands from France, and also one of the most productive. "Misanthro-Therapie" is the 9th album of the band and certainly one of the most accomplished. This album will be sell in a box with a bonus live album of 52 mins [+ 4 studio covers of At The Gates, Trust, Coroner and SUP] and a DVD with interviews, backstage and all this kind of stuff. If you don't know the band, you must know that "Misanthrope" do a very original melodic death Metal with sometime some touch of Folk and all their lyrics are in French.

To start this review, I must advice the readers, that I will only do the review of the studio album "Misanthro-Therapie" due to the fact that the DVD and the 2nd cd of the box "Traces Indiscrètes" are not featured in the promo cd.
Anyway we will do the review of this new studio album of the band, and for sure that certainly the most important thing to do.
"Misanthro-Therapie" is a great album, no doubt that it's certainly one of the best of the band, certainly due by the fact that it's, in my opinion, maybe more easy of access than their oldest album. Yes, in "Misanthro-Therapie" you'll find a lot of strong and very catchy guitars riffs, a lot [it's an habit for the band?] of great and poetic lyrics in French and some really interesting medieval and folk touch, who give all the charm to the music of one of the most well know and respected Metal band from the Hexagon. Sometime beautiful, sometime tortured or sometime strong and aggressive, the music of "Misanthrope" in this album is always very well done and very well written and the result is more than convincing. For example, could find some songs in the pure vein of Melo-Death like "Inspiration", or some others songs a bit more brutal like "Crimes, Tyranie". Some other tracks are also very melodic and sad like the beautiful "Amour Anthropophage" or the great song only made of bass lines and solo "Bassiste De Coeur". At the end I can only note the excellent "Conte Fantasmagorique" which, with its medieval and folk parts, is my favourite of the album.
You could see that at least that this album is every atypical an believe me this production is near of the perfection?
With another time a great production with a great cover and for great an album mixed by Anssi Kippo [Children Of Bodom, Sinergy] you can understand that the band don't do thing half this time, and for sure this album could give them the chance even if the lyrics are in French to cross our frontiers and to be more recognized all around the world.

For the 15th anniversary of the band, and with this 9th album, I can only say, that "Misanthrope only did master work". And at the end this album is just, you can understand it, a pure jewel of unconventional Melo-Death metal. Their music is really original, but very catchy and our French guys knew how to do something maybe a bit more easy of access for all the listeners but however in the true spirit of the band, and I really like that.
No doubt on it, "Misanthro-Therapie" is certainly the new masterpiece of the band?
