Who Needs A Throat Anyway.

All things modern hardcore. There will be no grind or sludgcore in this list in order to avoid duplicates. You will find some grind here and some sludgecore here</u>. If it is classic hardcore punk you seek, I advise you to try Lit.'s list.

- Since I moved those heavy ones, I'll need some time to rearrange and fill this up with all the hardcore goodness I said no to before.
- Order changes depending on what I am currently obsessed with

Thanks for the recommendation! I will surely give that band my time, sure sounds like something I would enjoy. Actually, I've only been recently getting into crust punk and discovered a bunch of tasty bands who incorporate some sludge and black metal in their crust dominated sound, the likes of Fall of Efrafa, Black Monolith, Tragedy, Martyrdöd etc. Have to say I love that combination and your list does have quite a few of those bands on it so I keep coming back to it looking to make more amazing discoveries. So far it has been a fruitful journey thanks to you. ^_^

Apart from that, my preference in metal is generally more on the bleak and dissonant side of the genre and that is true for quite a few of the bands on the list that I already know of. Specifically that Doctor Livingstone record that I already mentioned and Nails's latest effort. I also found that Herod album quite to my liking, so I can say that that particular blend of atmospheric sludge is definitely something I'm into. So that woulld be the kind of thing I hold an interest for. ^_^

Well thank you, I'm very happy this is useful for someone else other myself . I don't want to repeat what I said in earlier posts, but basically, same here. New to this, and slowly narrowing down on what I exactly like in this whole new genre I am discovering. Actually the Sludge/hardcore combination is what I seem to enjoy the most, and I am preparing a list with only bands like that.

You just reminded me to give the latest Tragedy a listen, I only know the one they released in 2006 (too old). I'm wondering if this one will make the list. Just to send you off with a recommendation again, try The Psyke Project (#3) as soon as possible. It's the greasiest, filthiest, heaviest kind of sludge/hardcore with hypnotic riffs that just... I don't know. You should experience it yourself, listen to this song in particular is you want a get a quick idea.
I am not into a lot of atmospheric sludge/post metal, and I'm sure you know that the go-to-guy for that here is Jay (teamster). But he recommended me Kowloon Walled City (#3) that fits that hardcore/atmosludge label and does great things with it.

Anyway, I keep tabs on everything I listen to, and this is just a selection. So don't hesitate to suggest something, or ask for something, and come back with feed-back. Someone stop me now or I'll add another recommendation.

Have you tried Converge? It was my very first hardcore band and it remains my favourite.

Yes I have . I've listened to three of their full-lengths by now, Jane Doe being my favourite so far. But I can't say I fell in love with their any of what I heard. That's why their latest doesn't appear here, I liked it, but just not enough.

Of course, but I'm here to take you by the hand and guide you. You liked Idylls, maybe the next logical step is to suggest something just as chaotic, but maybe a little heavier, but still less crazy. #10 on the list, Jack The Stripper. Enjoy!

Okay I'm listening to this, and I think I get why you said you felt a little hardcore in the vocals. The whole album made me think of an adolescent version of Code, if you see what I mean. It's honestly not bad at all. But the whole thing needs polishing, they have spirit and all, but... it still sounds amateurish. And well, you know, I'm not a fan of the folk-ish touches, but they don't dwell on that for too long so it's okay.

I'm not much similar with sludge/-core genres tbh and don't know any other band similar to LSM, using heavy as fuck filthy and discordant riffs. There was a band I checked last year that came close, but I can't find them now and have forgotten their name sorry.
Amyways, I think The Psyke Project wouldnt be out of place here. Also, why not including Flourishing, for the sake of diversity at least? One of the best modern death metal bands.
Edit: well you have The Psyke Project. Good job =p

Aw too bad. Give me holla if you remember their name.
But yeah The Psyke Project could totally fit the sludgecore tag, and they have that same "we'll drown you in a tsunami of noise" approach. Which is why they found themselves so high in the list.

About Flourishing. I tried listening to that The Sum Of All Fossils album, and to be honest, I remember stopping it in the middle because I thought to myself "this is not bad at all and I can hear the originality/quality, but not for me". But even if I did like it, it wouldn't have had its spot here: I didn't hear any hardcore in it.

Also, what are you saying? This list is very diverse! The only common denominator is hardcore, but many different other genres, when associated with it, are present .

Technically, I didn't say that the list is not diverse. I just said that including that specific band makes the list more diverse, which is true since I don't see any tech death here :p
I don't know what flourishing exactly is. As said before, I'm a hardcore noob but from what I've read online and my own superficial vision on the genre, they are hardcore.

To further your workload, check Homewrecker from Ohio (provided you haven't already). Saw them play with Eyehategod and Enabler, and they kicked serious tush. They're also playing at MDF. Not sure how I'd classify their sound, but there's definitely some crust/grind elements.

Yep I've heard both their 2013 and 2014 releases. It's cool but nothing really blew me away. I remember liking the previous album, Bushcrafts, more than this one, and that's the one I should be adding. Thanks for reminding me about it .

No workload, I know Homewrecker. I have written "thrash+crust with sludge elements" on my notebook. I suppose you were linking me to Worms & Dirt there, fantastic album that I should add to the list. I unfortunately listen faster than I update it :/.
I will be seeing Enabler at Temples, that I'm happy about. It would be funny if Homewrecker came as well.
