("Burn" is downright terrible.)

I didn't dig the clean vocals after the 1st listen, now it's one of my favorite tracks in the album!
Mad Arab666 - 24.06.2014 at 15:18
Rating: 8 CD just cane today. Going to give it a listen soon.
Anyone feel that the picture on the on back of the album makes Christos Antoniou look like a klingon or something from battlefield earth.

Rating: 7 Well, this album as come off to be a bit of a disappointment. It has its good parts, but they are too far and few between. I like how Septicflesh incorporates orchestral pieces into their tracks, but many songs have too much of it. They end up making the tracks discordant, and overly chaotic. Songs like "War In Heaven" where they just blast the E string and shout the song title over and over really kills the album.

Imho, things go this way :

- Communion : 30% orchestra, 70% death metal (or whatever you call it)
- The Great Mass : 50% orchestra, 50% death metal (my favourite album of SF I think !)
- Titan : 70% orchestra, 30% death metal.

s_t_s pretty much nailed it on the head. The sound can go really great together, but when I'm listening to Titan, and get nothing but very fast, chaotic, violins playing in my ear, I wonder if this can even be called Septicflesh anymore, but just a collaboration album with an orchestra. Don't get me wrong, I love classical music and metal alike, but when I want to hear Septicflesh, I actually want to hear Septicflesh.

I love TITAN but I also think Septicflesh has put as much orchestra as could be. More than that would be an orchestra featuring septicflesh I gives me the very same feeling that with LABYRINTH of Fleshgod Apocalypse. I love to hear it from the beginning to the end, yet I'm pretty sure I couldn't name any track (well at least with TITAN I can name several tracks )

Again, I really love TiTAN but THE GREAT MASS is better balance imho. Not to forget that TITAN played live must be quite an odd performance with 30% live show and 70% sampled sound

MetzgerMeister - 29.06.2014 at 00:20
Rating: 9 I must admit that there is quite a lot of orchestra on this album, hence the reason for an entirely separate CD containing only orchestral scores.
Upon first listen I was in shock at how much Septicflesh have changed their sound since I first heard their album Communion. I love how well the orchestra blends with Titan and all the tracks fit very well with one another. Burn has grown on me quite a lot after a couple listens, even though it was my least favorite of the three tracks they released before the official date.
So far, I find Confessions of a Serial Killer to be my least favorite, and that says a lot considering it isn't a terrible track. For most people it will take time to get used to all the orchestra, but I am very happy I bought this album. I have heard nothing like it before and it falls right near the #1 spot so far for 2014 in my opinion.
Good day to all! ImI

Rating: 7 Good album, but it didn't impress me a whole lot. Going to spin it a couple times more to find out if it's a grower or not.

To be honest, as unlikely as it is I just wish they would do another album like sumerian daemons....
I loved communion and dug the great mass but this just fails to keep me interested for more than 5 minutes..

It's definitely a grower I would say, I was kinda disappointed on my first listen. Though I prefer their previous albums.
Gelati - 02.07.2014 at 22:32
Rating: 9 If you're a fan of ensembles that integrate like Septicflesh does, this album is outstanding. I found the heavy use of orchestra not only appropriate, but extraordinarily well done. That being said, this isn't nearly as good as The Great Mass if you're looking at the same characteristics. It's still an outstanding album and one of the better ones this year (albeit it's been a kind of weak year SO FAR).

Long story short, if you like this sort of thing, then this album is great, if not, its merely "ok."
necrophagist117 - 03.07.2014 at 13:55
Rating: 10 This album is perfect ! the Orchestral parts blend perfectly with the heavy death metal sound, that's something not any band can do, the the orchestral parts were stunning, each song has its own atmosphere, I just can't stop listening to it
Eccer - 03.07.2014 at 18:39
I must admit feeling slightly left out in the first run. But, as every other septicflesh album, it has the power to grow on you. Because they always do the unexpected, even maintaining their genuine sound and approach to dark concepts. The bombast is definitely bigger this time, but it fits... given the theme. Can't wait until I get my digipack, and until then. I will not rate it yet. The experience must be complete to fully understand their vision! :-D

Stoned Crow - 06.07.2014 at 17:26
I like this, much more so than The Great Mass. My favorite track on the previous album was Therianthropy, so my opinion might mean very little. Still, I like Titan. My favorite tracks so far are Burn and Ground Zero. It would probably lose fans, but I want more cleans. I like Sotiris's voice. The choir parts are nice, as well.

You're not the only one. His cleans have a special sonority to it that really appeals to me

Honestly, this sound like a "death metal" version of Dimmu Borgir.

Yeah, it can't be good.

I've come to the conclusion, after my first full listen that this album doesn't really have any replay value. I've never been the biggest Septicflesh fan, but this album, for some reason, doesn't do it for me.

Matter of taste as I really love "Burn"

Your taste sucks. I'm kidding, but seriously the clean vocals are tasteless while the rest of the song is fantastic; I believe that is what everyone is complaining about.
Nefarious - 14.07.2014 at 11:57
Rating: 5 I've enjoyed their last couple of records but I just couldn't get into this at all. It feels like they took all the songs that weren't deemed good enough to feature on The Great Mass, filled them with as much orchestral sections as they could, and overproduced the hell out of it to come up with a generic, directionless album where all the songs sound the same & doesn't hold your attention at all...but hey, that's just me

Unfortunately I can't get into this one. Not even sure if I can get through the album

I have tried several spins and i am still disappointed. Titan was made out of clay :/

Good album, but it didn't impress me a whole lot. Going to spin it a couple times more to find out if it's a grower or not.

If you think this is good, you should check out Communion and Sumerian Daemons (if you haven't already, of course). Titan's alright, but quite underwhelming compared to those two.
NocturnalStalker - 30.07.2014 at 17:31
Rating: 9 What I really love above this album is that it, unlike many and many albums, doesn't start out great and then goes downhill. On contrary, in my opinion, it's actually a kind of a crescendo that with the final note of The First Immortal lefts me craving more. Also the balance of symphonic music and death metal, which I find close to perfect, makes me enjoy Titan even more.
Finally, it just occurred to me that this is what a proper soundtrack to a nightmare should sound like.

Oh yeah, thanks for remembering me about those albums. So no, haven't yet checked them out. Going to spin this one a couple times more to judge it properly though.

Yeah, I should probably do the same, but I was quite disappointed on my first couple of listens, and only made it to the last song once...

Sword_Chant - 28.08.2014 at 23:38
Rating: 7 It's pretty good. The first 3 songs are brutal... but the 2nd half of the album loses its edge and is mostly filler.
