I liked the single they released more than their past material, as they have moved on to a thrashy style, which I think fits their sound perfectly.

That's actually why Lawless Darkness is my favorite out of the albums they have put out so far as it is prety thrashy most of the time. So I'm welcoming more thrash for sure.

What on earth happened here? The production on this album is so muddy. Gave it 3 listens so far and it felt like I was listening to some half produced b-sides. Also, drumming on track 6 is so annoying, so out of place.

Pretty average. Nothing more to say really. Nothing really caught my attention. Great BM for black metal parties.

Ultra is an absolutely kickass song, but that's about it. Some of the other songs have their moments but they sound so god damn uninspired. Some of the drumming and vocals patterns are pretty sweet though.

I expected more evolution after The Wild Hunt. It's a very good album, but more straightforward. Still very good.

I really like when Watain uses a lot of thrash in their sound, I think it's a perfect fit.

How come this album has a lower rating than 'the wild hunt'?

It's definitely better than the wild hunt

No way this is better than The Wild Hunt, that album was a BM adventure.

I don't understand why The Wild Hunt is getting that much shit either. This one here on the other hand has one of the worst production jobs I have ever heard. Who the f*** thought that this was actually sounding good? The songs are average for Watain standards at best and that's about it. 35 minutes of a dull listening experience witha few moments of great guitar leads in vain of Dissection that ultimately get muffled up in one of the worst mixes in recent years. Every amateur Black Metal band with home equipment can do a better job. Even I have done better and I have no clue about mixing and mastering whatsoever.

Casus Luciferi, Lawless Darkness and The Wild Hunt, those are their best. And none of those albums sound similar.
