Right, Firewind from Firewind. Often I question when a band with many albums under their belt decide to release an eponymous album years down the line. In this case, they do get a pass as they explained it by saying this feels like a re-launch of the band by bringing Herbie Langhans as a vocalist, as he does sound very much like their first singer Stephen Fredrick.

Spartaaaa!! After a five-year hiatus, The Greek powerhouse that is Firewind is back in full force with a power metal concept album about the Battle of Thermopylae and Salamis in 480 BC during the second Persian invasion of Greece. Look it up, it's fascinating and a few movies were made about it.

Firewind, Firewind, how I loved you. You proved that bands with frequently changing lineups can still sound tight as fuck. You proved that having a kick-ass young shredder in the band doesn't necessarily turn your songs into vessels for his solos....
