Biography

In 2005, David Sullivan, Maurice Bryan Giles, Aaron Beam, and John Sherman consolidated their powers to form Red Fang. They played their first, legendary show on the final night of that year, welcoming 2006 with buckets of sweat and splinters of destruction. Exactly one year later, they were opening for the Melvins and Big Business.

In their previous bands, the members of Red Fang created difficult, complicated, challenging music. With Red Fang, they take a different approach, returning to what initially inspired them to form bands - heavy, exciting, sometimes threatening music that at first appears simple and straightforward, but whose sophistication reveals itself upon repeated listening.

The progenitors were bands like Black Flag, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Slayer, and the Melvins, but there are a crop of contemporary bands that exhibit the same inspirational combination of heaviness, deceptive simplicity, and catchiness - Hot Snakes, Big Business, the Melvins, and Queens Of The Stone Age.

It is Red Fang's goal to create music that, as writer Lance Chess describes, "appeals to both the thinking and the banging head." They do not restrict themselves to any particular genre, instead playing what they enjoy?badass, heavy music.

Red Fang has two albums under their belt: Red Fang's debut self-titled release (2009) and Murder The Mountains (2011). On their Chris Funk (Decemberists) produced, Vance Powell mixed Relapse debut Murder The Mountains, the quartet wave a middle finger at fashion and bet the proverbial house on substance over style.

Red Fang has quickly become known for their hilarious, critically acclaimed viral videos directed by Whitey McConnaughy (Band of Horses, Flogging Molly, Turbonegro). The band told Blabbermouth.net: "Working with Whitey again was great, because we knew the end result would be amazing ? he doesn't half-ass. But it was also a little scary, because Whitey would do whatever it took to get the ultimate shot, even if it meant killing us."

As warriors of the road, Red Fang have extensively toured North America, playing major festivals like Rock on The Range, the Rockstar Mayhem Festival tour, and a recent confirmation for Metallica's Orion Music & More Fest in addition to high-profile tours with Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape, Crowbar, Helmet & Saint Vitus.

The release of '\Murder The Mountains also saw the band expanding their global footprint as they embarked on their first European trek with The Ocean and Intronaut followed by an extensive run with Mastodon. Europeans immediately fell in love with the Fang as they will be heading back in the Spring of 2012 on their first headlining trek in addition to a series of major festival appearances across the continent.

2012 promises to be the biggest year yet for these bearded Portlanders who show no sign of slowing down as they continue to bestow their intense live performances upon audiences throughout the world. Red Fang are determined to trample the feeble rock world with the force of an ill-tempered wooly mammoth. Their unique brand of humor, catchy songwriting & independent attitude are sure to turn a few heads in 2012 and beyond.
