Tiamat - Split and Back in 2 Days

Here are the announcements posted on the band website:

"1st of April 2005

Tiamat Is No More...

Today Tiamat announced that they have decided to split up due to "religious differencies". All future concerts and studio sessions have been cancelled. Tiamat would like to thank their fans for the support and apologize for the lack of glue in the most cracked substances of the Tiamat subjects. This page will be maintained until the contracts run out, then remain dark forever. Thanks for everything!"

followed by:

"2nd of April 2005

Tiamat Reunion?

Yes, the rumours are true! Tiamat are back together and will do many reunion shows this spring and summer, and serve their fans a "best of" orgy in nostalgia that only middle-aged rock'n'rollers can put up! All band members will travel individually and have separate backstage rooms to avoid confronting each other. The therapist has been sacked and the money saved will go straight into the pockets of the religious leaders of the CoT."

The Storyteller - To Start works on New Album

The band posted the following message on their official website:

"Yes it's finally time for us to enter the studio for our fourth full length album.

The date is set to the beginning of May and will take about 4 weeks. This time we have chosen to enter Studio Underground (Västerås). We have no doubts that the producer Pelle Saether will do an excellent job so we are really looking forward to this recording.

To all of you who wonder how the new album will sound I can only say this:
This album has by far the best material so far. It is going to be a bit harder then our previous albums but I think that all of you will enjoy it.

There are also going to be a couple of FESTIVALS this year.
So far Decibel 2000 (Bengtsfors/Sweden) and Parkrock (Sandviken/Sweden) are scheduled but we do hope to announce some more gigs in the near future.

Also I would like to announce that we have a second booking agency working for us: SSG AGENCY AND MANAGEMENT (Finland)
To contact them please write to Thomas Ståhl: thomas@ssg.fi

And of course we still have MOTOR PRODUCTIONS working for us
Our contact there is Edward Janson; edward.janson@motor.se

Well I think that's it for now.
Stay tuned for more news regarding the upcoming album.

Rock on!
L-G"

Dimmu Borgir - Hellhammer on the New Album

DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Silenoz has confirmed that MAYHEM's Jan Axel Blomberg (a.k.a. Hellhammer) will play on the next DIMMU BORGIR CD as a session drummer. In a posting on the band's official web site, Silenoz writes, "To get this rumor bullshit out of the way, we confirm that mercenary Hellhammer will be doing the drums for us as a session member on the next album. And that's that."

The Norwegian symphonic black metallers had previously utilized the services of NILE's Tony Laureano and Reno Kiilerich (PANZERCHRIST, EXMORTEM, VILE) as touring members following the departure of Nick Barker (ex-CRADLE OF FILTH) in early 2004.

DIMMU BORGIR recently announced plans to re-record their second album, "Stormblåst" (originally released in 1996 via Cacophonous Records) later in the year. No further information is currently available.

Dream Theater - New Bassist For The Upcoming Tour

According to the official website of the band, Boosty Collins should replace John Myung during the next tour of Dream Theater?

Mike Portnoy said during an interview: John is a fan of Saturday Night Fever and he always tries to Dance like Travolta? But he is definitely better with a bass than on the Dance Floor? We will miss him during the tour but he cannot play with his injured leg ? Bootsy will be perfect one to replace him?

Bootsy seems to be really happy to do this upcoming tour with the masters of the Progressive Metal and he promised to put some groove into the music of the Famous American "disco" Metal act.
Also, as an insight from the future tour, the band will play some Joe Dassin songs, remixed to be suited for Dream Theater.

For the show in Oslo, the headliner will be Bee Gees reformed.

A Funky and Disco tour in perspective?

ECJ Case/No Future for Metal Music in Europe?

ECJ Case/ No Future for Metal Music in Europe?
Two days ago, the European Court of Justice (CEJ), the highest court in Europe, gave a landmark decision, with consequences hard to envisage: at the request of the European Commission, in a legal action directed against the "European Federation of Dead and Black Metal Music Federation", based in the Isle of an (UK), the Court held it is proportionate and desirable to limit the access of the youngest generations to, as it was called, the "disruptive" music, invoking an old legal act, Regulation (EEC) no. 666/1966 regarding the use and selling of "some disruptive artistic products". Interesting enough, the Regulation was never used or invoked until these days, even if it was originally directed against hippie, blues & rock music.
More concrete, the Court held it is forbidden for music shops to sell or even display any record on any support (CD, cassette, vinyl etc.), to persons below 25 years, under a heavy fine, up to 5 millions euros.
So, according to a source, the future of metal music in Europe is even more uncertain in the present conditions.
Only the Swedish government, represented at the hearings, opposed to the solution, mentioning that, by adopting such a decision, it would cause damages of around 7,5 million k.

V. Vikernes Visited in Prison

Vikernes Visited in Prison

As it was reported yesterday late, V. Vikernes was visited in prison by Emma Bovary, the famous French top model and former lover, among others, of the soccer player Vieri, and, also, by representative of the Helsinki Committee, aiming to review the detention conditions of the convicted. Miss Bovary told to the press a petition was filed to the Norwegian Ministry of Justice for reducing the sentence. Vikernes was confident of a positive solution, leading his guests to the gates of the prison. He hasn't forgot to reaffirm his clear ideas on the superiority of the white race (?).
If things go as they were predicted, Vikernes could be released in late May.
