Kamelot - New Video Online, Working On New Album

"Necropolis", a new video from US power metallers Kamelot can now be seen below. The song comes off the group's latest album Poetry For The Poisoned, which was released in September last year.

Guitarist Thomas Youngblood states: "With this video, we gave Owe (director) free reign to create something unique and visually stunning. Him and his team did a fantastic job! Here you have Necropolis!"

In other news, the band is busy working on new songs and continuing to review audition videos for the singer position. Kamelot's bassist Sean Tibbetts states: "We are getting real close to making a choice, there are some amazingly talented singers out there. We are taking our time on this, the vocals for the new album will be done last, like always. So there is no rush to make the decision now."

Kamelot will return to Gate Studios/Germany starting in January with Sascha Paeth producing. The production is expected to be several months long and will include special guests, orchestra arrangements and much more. This album will be the follow up to Poetry For The Poisoned. "The new songs are really coming along great, lots of variation, melody and energy." adds Kamelot's guitarist Thomas Youngblood.

Very nice video and song. But I find it strange that they release a new video from a song with Khan still on vocals.

Wish Khan would come back to the band. Its going to take one hell of a singer to match him.

I agree. It's not going to be easy for them to pick someone as talented as Khan for the job. I hope they make a wise choice because good vocals are part of Kamelot's quality.

Guh. They're going to basically create & record the album before actually getting a singer? I don't approve. I think they should get a new singer first and allow a chance to actually grow with him (or her) musically. I would not want to be that singer that has to quickly squeeze myself into something I had nothing to do with in the first place (but alas it happens a lot with new singers... and I'm sure that's how it was with Roy's first album Siege Perilous -- and I adore that album). So, I guess if they can get someone extremely talented and emotive (a fraction of Roy even still) then it won't be that bad. I'm worried.

Blah. Don't like the video... or the song really for that matter. Wish they would have done "Once Upon a Time" instead.

I really like the video, it has that creepy vibe, the song on the other hand is not one of their best.
I agree with bazinko, they should wait till they have a singer before starting to record the album, that way they can change some sounds and stuff to fitt the singer better.

Love the video, really matches the dark feel of the song.

agree & agree, Roy must be one of the most talented singers I heard in my life and I wish he comes back...
But I must say, Bring anyone but Fabio Lione, he was really baaaad in the last tour, with his weird fake accent and noisy high pitched notes!!!

I've not heard anyone who is close to Khan.

Tommy Karevik did an amazing job singing Center Of The Universe. He's an amazing singer, the only one I know that could replace Khan without annoying me at all.
I bought Seventh Wonder's Mercy Falls because of him and I am very please with the album and the singer.

Its that weird accent that puts me off too. I've not heard anyone who is close to Khan. I'll get out my time machine and get Mindcrime era Geoff Tate. He had the range then, not now though. Hopefully they can discover someone new. There seems to be a bit of a vacuum of quality male power metal singers that would suit Kamelot.

mmm...you're right, but I would say that there are really good replacements out there, like Tommy Karevik from Seventh Wonder, Michael Erikssen from Circus Maximus, and Alfred Romero from Dark Moor, and I think that Alfred is the closest one to Khan...

These posts sum up my thoughts exactly. Don't forget Khan was a discovery as well, I have total faith in Thomas to pick the best one, although I'm rooting for Karevik, or for Roy to come back... never seen Kam with Roy

There is no replacing a Roy Khan. I hold out hope though that whoever they pick will uphold their amazing legacy with the intensity, passion and talent that Mr. Khan showed.
