Moonsorrow - Sign Worldwide Deal To Century Media Records

Finnish folk metallers Moonsorrow are proud to announce their signing of a worldwide deal with German label Century Media Records.

The band comments: "Moonsorrow are thrilled to start working with Century Media, a label that is home to many fellow artists already! We never make our music half way or with compromises and we know our art is in good hands with people who have the same mentality in running a record label. Now, after a year since the release of our last album we are ready to begin creating something new. The new chapter in this epic journey of Moonsorrow!"

Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Century Media Europe: "I followed Moonsorrow since their early days and I'm very proud to welcome them now to Century Media Records. They'll be in good family along with their countrymen [band]Finntroll [/band], Turisas and Insomnium. Two of the band members already have some history with us: Henri Sorvali is also part of Finntroll (even if he rarely plays live with any band) and Marko Tarvonen once moved from drums to guitar in the overlooked Death Metal allstar band Chaosbreed, who released an album that is as 'brutal' as its title.

Much has been said about the dark soul of Finnish Metal. A sound that is hard to copy for any non-domestic band. A sound out of endless woods, deepest sorrow and epic majesty. Moonsorrow are probably the most epic of all Finnish bands, not only because most of their songs are over 10 minutes long (sometimes even over 30 minutes), but mainly because they are able to tell stories that are older than written culture. You can follow them even if you don't understand a single Finnish word. Moonsorrow are able to take you on journey through heathen times. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who can't wait for the next chapter."

Why do bands always "ink" deals? Why not "sign" deals? "Ink" has become another metal jargon term. So sad

I wonder if this is going to be a precursor to any larger changes in the music... hopefully they will remain doing what they want with their sound / image

I got a good laugh out of this, thanks.

As for the signing or inking or what not, I honestly could care less what label they're on as long as they continue to keep making great records. I heart me some Moonsorrow.

True folk metal bands sign deals in the blood of their enemies. I'm pretty sure that's how it went down. We should say "bleed a deal" from now on.

"ink" isnt just a metal term... it's pretty worldwide. Or media wide, anyway. You see it all the time with athletes "inking" new deals.

Anyway, this excites me. I'm stoked to hear a new Moonsorrow record [then again I am a bit of a fanboy]. And hopefully this means they'll come back to Colorado at some point in the nearish future!

Didn't these use to be on Spinefarm?

Whatever you do now Moonsorrow, just because labels can uptight and sometimes make the future albums less original sounding. Please DON'T FUCKING COMPROMISE YOUR NEXT LOT OF OUTPUTS.

I doubt they will change anything as their 10+ minutes epic songs is pretty much their strenght.

Dunno, but alot people think that going on to a bigger company will turn them into sell-outs as if they were "forced" to make more accesible music. I don't see any empirical evidence of it, unless the band clearly states they want to go into that direction (see Hammerfall, Satyricon, etc...)
