Mutilation Rites - Harbinger

Black metal as it is in 2014 is a curious creature. On the one hand, you have bands seemingly hell bent on incorporating whatever non-BM sounds they can find into their mix, boldly pushing the boundaries of the genre. On the other, you have those sticking to a sound more rooted in tradition. Mutilation Rites sit in a bit of an odd position between these two, not exactly being able to be placed too far in either category.

Christian Muenzner - Forms New Band With Kelly Sundown Carpenter

Guitarist Christian Muenzner is very busy these days. Apart from recording rhythm guitar parts for the Alkaloid debut album, a new project announced when he and Hannes Grossmann left Obscura, he is also joining forces with vocalist Kelly Sundown Carpenter (Firewind, Beyond Twilight, Iron Mask, etc.) in a new band. Christian Muenzner is very excited about this new band and seems like he wanted to form it for a long time. The songwriting process is underway and more will be revealed very soon.

Solace Of Requiem - Casting Ruin

It took me a lot of thought to determine my true impression of this album. It's not as though Solace Of Requiem play such an esoteric style of music that I couldn't comprehend it; but sometimes I find it difficult to ascertain just what kind of an atmosphere they are aiming for, and how often I hear Solace Of Requiem versus how often I try to hear other bands in them.

Nightwish - Announce 2015 North American Tour

As you know, symphonic metal heavyweights Nightwish are currently working on their new album. Today the band announces their 27-date headlining tour through North America for 2015, launching in New York City on April 9th, hitting three Canadian cities plus Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, then closing out in Silver Springs, Maryland on May 14th. In The Woods... - Are Back After 14 Years, New Vocalist

Norwegian progressive metal cult band In The Woods... are back after 14 years! You might remember that they disbanded back in 2000. The band announced their reunion and also unveiled one of the new members of the band, the new vocalist. Of three candidates, Tommy Sebastian Halseth was their first choice. Tommy has done a lot of different stuff, ranging from Godsend, through Atrox, Griffin, Wattamezz and also live vocals for Manes. Tommy has received full control of the lyrics on the upcoming material. The band plans to record two albums, beginning next year with the first.

Nightbringer - New Album Streaming Online In Full

Crystal Viper - Cancel Show In Portugal

Polish heavy metal band Crystal Viper have cancelled their performance at Pax Julia Metal Fest in Portugal, which was scheduled for November 15th, 2014 due to frontwoman Marta "Leather Wych" Gabriel's health, even though they didn't explain further. According to the fest, this would be the band's first time playing in Portugal.
