Enemy Of Reality

Enemy Of Reality is a joining of regal forces that finally occurred in 2013 in Athens, Greece. Lyric soprano Iliana Tsakiraki, guitarist Steelianos, keyboardist Marianthi, bassist Thanos and drummer Philip Stone each bring something unique to this all-star lineup.

Iliana, the voice behind Meden Agan, released a highly acclaimed studio album (Erevos Aenaon) and EP (Nemesis) with the groundbreaking group before she set her sights on new horizons. She also participated in Septicflesh's latest studio album, The Great Mass, which was chosen as one of the very best metal albums of 2011. She has shared the stage with Tarja, Epica, Visions Of Atlantis, Maiden United and many more. She has also performed at the last two installments of Metal Female Voices Fest; MFVF XI saw Steelianos and Philip take the stage as well with Iliana and Eve's Apple.

36 Crazyfists - Time And Trauma

What makes a really good metalcore album?

Yes, it's possible; stop trying to be edgy. My own first answer would be "passion"; then I'd most likely align the words "dynamism" and "maturity." Even if the latter often comes with time and encompasses a certain mastery of a band's instruments, the first two can be lost along the way, or can sometimes never be found in a discography at all. Fortunately for 36 Crazyfists, their twenty years as a band brought them the experience and perspective necessary to avoid sounding like acne ridden seventeen-year-olds.

Abscession - Grave Offerings

Almost forgot, the band's name is Abscession and we are discussing their debut album Grave Offerings today. The band is a three-piece orchestra with the usual setup, plus some keyboards. And they are from Sweden. They play death metal.

Bands
Archgoat

Archgoat was formed under the wings of Hell in 1989 to spread the word of the Rebel Angel. The line-up consisted of Angelslayer (Growls of the Fullmoon), Ritual Butcherer (Axe of Black Mass) and Blood Desecrator (Bombardment).

First demo was unleashed in 1991, called "Jesus Spawn". In 1992 an unholy alliance was forged between Archgoat and Necropolis Records and in 1993 the MLP "Angelcunt (Tales Of Desecration)" was released. Archgoat entered the studio to record a full-length release in 1993 for Necropolis Records. After a disagreement over the terms of Necropolis Records, the material was kept from the masses and in late 1993 Archgoat decided to vanish from the now-so-commercial Black Metal scene.

Serious Black - As Daylight Breaks

Super groups are curious creatures. Despite often having superb pedigrees, in many cases they fail to achieve that magical chemistry which might even turn 4 average musicians into something special. In fact too often it's some sort of generic mash up of the members' other project. And with members of Blind Guardian, Helloween and Tad Morose in the band, Serious Black's pedigree is quite illustrious. So the question arises: does Serious Black rise above its origins to create heavy metal that will stand on its own merit?
