1.
AC/DC - Back In Black Filled to the brim with Grade A riffs, powerful vocals, not a hint of filler. |
2.
Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell Dio's debut with the band. Not as of powerful riffs as early Sabbath, but fantastic music, and Dio's vocals |
3.
Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations Not just famous because of Metallica. Heavy, fast, aggressive songs, and good songwriting. |
4.
Def Leppard - On Through The Night Before they got lame, they were just another NWOBHM band, pumping out great music. |
5.
Motörhead - Ace Of Spades They're fast, loud, aggressive, badass...they're Motörhead |
6.
Saxon - Strong Arm Of The Law Incredible vocals, fast songs, epitome of old-school metal if you ask me. |
7.
Cirith Ungol - Frost And Fire Solid album by these guys, cool vocals, powerful bass, unique guitars. |
8.
Saxon - Wheels Of Steel More of the same from these guys. Not quite as focused as "Strong Arm..." but great metal. |
9.
Samson - Head On Bruce Bruce! Great vocals (obviously), catchy songs, cheesy, perfect. |
10.
Blue Öyster Cult - Cultösaurus Erectus Sweet metal at the start of the album, decent classic rock in the second half. Absolutely still worth a listen. |
11.
Tygers Of Pan Tang - Wild Cat Flashy, aggressive, sleazy, underrated band. |
12.
Van Halen - Women And Children First Did I say Tygers were sleazy? Should have saved that adjective for the kings. |
13.
Angel Witch - Angel Witch Very solid debut album, especially the title track, and the heavy riffs of "Angel of Death" |
14.
Scorpions - Animal Magnetism Great album, solid riffs, vocals come off a little weak in my opinion. |
15.
Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden Excellant musicianship, obviously, but seems weak on the riffs. Once songs get going, they have nice melodies and solos, but almost no riffs to catch me from the start. |
16.
Accept - I'm A Rebel Inconsistant album. Some of the stuff is very aggressive and has a lot of bite, some of the other stuff comes off as too laid back. |
17.
Judas Priest - British Steel Overrated album imo. Still entertaining, fantastic riffs and vocals. "United" is awful. |
18.
Vardis - 100 MPH Debut by these guys, is also a live album. They could never capture this rough n tough sound in the studio. |
19.
Budgie - Power Supply Streamlined approach to metal for these guys. Tight musicianship, cool vocals. |
20.
Thin Lizzy - Chinatown Not exactly metal, but solid heavy rock that should appeal to just about everyone. Good lyrics, solid guitar work. |
