The first song sounds kinda lazy rock & heavy metal, Defense Condition sounds much more alive already and the album has quite good material after that. Not exactly the heaviest metal album with lots of melodies going on and with the hard rock inclinations. Rather great a second album and I must say that I am positively surprised with some of its songwriting.

I'm revisiting this for the night and it's as awesome as I remember. All songs are catchy while being true to the heavy tradition. The sound is good, the singer is good. Nice riffs and pace. Maybe only "Lost In Reality" losing momentum. But I'm really sad this album (and band) isn't more known

Re-listened after seeing your comment. To me, from Defense Condition to Venomous Gods the songs are a winning spree. I don't get the first song choice here, the album has some massive tunes but Never Look Back isn't one of them -- shouldn't the first song be captivating or even the best one Anyway, I get your 9 rating and it's hard to say if it's 8 or 9 for me.

I have no trouble with the first song. It's heavy, the chorus riff is great. Maybe the bridge is off... anyway. I've pushed them all to 9 since they stood the test of time, I clearly enjoy them and that's what it means. Although I also caught that the drums are widely underused (on Vicious Game), maybe a possible explaination as to why they didn't succeed.
